Description
The classic wedge shape, with a tall face for HGV tyres. This chock stands about 205mm high, with a thin toe that slides under the tyre and a stepped ramp that climbs the tread. It is cored underneath to bring the weight and price down, and it still carries a 44-tonne maximum vehicle weight. A steel eye-bolt at the back lets you tie on a rope if you want one. The price is for one chock.

Why this chock works
A tall ramp for a big tyre. At about 205mm high, the ramp reaches well up the tread, and if the wheel starts to roll it bears down on the chock and presses it into the ground.
Stepped ribs across the ramp. A row of square ribs gives the tyre edges to bear against instead of a smooth face.
Eye-bolt at the back. Fit a rope so you can pull the chock clear without reaching in beside the wheel, or tie a pair together so they stay on the vehicle. The rope is not included.
Cored for lower weight and cost. The hollow section underneath makes it lighter and cheaper than the solid version of the same chock.
No test standard or slope rating is published for this line. If your specification needs a tested chock, call us before you order.
Where it is used
Use it at loading bays and distribution centres, in haulage and freight yards, on tankers and trailers parked up for loading, and in workshops when a vehicle is stood for repair.

How to use it safely
- Apply the parking brake, stop the engine and take the keys out.
- Push the toe under the tyre until the ramp is hard against the tread. The flat back faces away from the wheel.
- On a slope, chock the downhill side first. Use a second chock on the other side of the tyre.
- Before removing the chocks, make sure nearby vehicle movements have stopped and everyone is clear.
- Take the chocks away before the vehicle moves, and never drive over one.
HSE guidance says chocks should be brightly coloured so they can be seen, and this one is black. On a busy site, choose a yellow chock or make it easier to spot in line with your risk assessment. A chock backs up the parking brake and does not replace it.
Which chock do you need?
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| A tall wedge at the lower price | This cored chock |
| The same wedge with no hollow core | 230 x 160 x 205mm solid chock |
| A lower, wider block shape | 235 x 200 x 150mm cored chock |
| 44 tonnes in yellow rubber | 280 x 196 x 186mm yellow chock |
| 44 tonnes, under 2kg, and easy to see | 460mm yellow plastic chock |
Care
Check each chock before use and replace it if the rubber is split or the eye-bolt is loose. Wipe off oil and grease, as they can attack rubber over time.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one chock or a pair?
The price is for one chock. Set the quantity to 2 if you want one each side of the tyre, which is the usual choice for a trailer being loaded or parked on a slope.
Is a rope included?
No. The eye-bolt is fitted, ready for a rope of your choice if you want one.
Which way round does it go?
The thin toe goes under the tyre and the ribbed ramp sits against the tread. The flat back with the eye-bolt faces away from the wheel.
Is there a holder to keep it on the vehicle or a wall?
Yes. Our 230mm yellow steel holder and 245mm yellow steel holder both fit this chock. They are sold separately.
Can I tie it to a wall?
Yes. Our galvanised chain clips to the eye-bolt, and a pivot lashing ring fixes the other end to a wall. Both are sold separately.
