Description
A 44-tonne chock at a price that lets you put one at every dock door. This is the lighter version of our standard HGV chock: cored out underneath to take out weight and cost, while keeping the 44-tonne maximum vehicle weight. At about 4kg, it is an easy one-hand carry from the bay to the wheel, so it is more likely to get used. The price is for one chock.

Why this chock works
Low, wide and stable. A 200mm base and 150mm height keep the weight low, and the wide footprint resists tipping when the tyre bears against it.
Ribbed on both slopes. Rounded ribs run the length of both sloped faces, so either side can go against the tyre. There is no wrong side to pick up in a hurry.
Cored to save weight. The hollow underneath is why this chock weighs about 4kg against 5kg or more for the solid version, and why it costs less.
Eye-bolt at one end. The steel eye-bolt gives you something to grip, or a point to tie a rope to.
No test standard or slope rating is published for this line. If your specification needs a tested chock, call us before you order.
Where it is used
Use it at loading bays and distribution centres, in freight depots and fleet yards, and on trailers parked up for loading. Many sites keep a pair at each dock door or on each vehicle, which is where the low price and weight help most.

How to use it safely
- Apply the parking brake, stop the engine and take the keys out.
- Push a sloped face hard against the tyre tread, with the long side across the tyre.
- On a slope, chock the downhill side first. Use a second chock on the other side of the tyre.
- Before removing the chocks, make sure nearby vehicle movements have stopped and everyone is clear.
- Take the chocks away before the vehicle moves, and never drive over one.
HSE guidance says chocks should be brightly coloured so they can be seen, and this one is black. On a busy site, choose a yellow chock or make it easier to spot in line with your risk assessment. A chock backs up the parking brake and does not replace it.
Which chock do you need?
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| 44 tonnes, lightest rubber option at this size | This cored chock |
| The same shape in solid rubber, for a longer life | 235 x 200 x 150mm solid chock |
| 44 tonnes, under 2kg, and easy to see | 460mm yellow plastic chock |
| 44 tonnes in yellow rubber | 280 x 196 x 186mm yellow chock |
| Vans and lighter lorries up to 10 tonnes | 295 x 150 x 190mm black chock |
Care
Check each chock before use and replace it if the rubber is split. Wipe off oil and grease, as these attack SBR rubber over time.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one chock or a pair?
The price is for one chock. Set the quantity to 2 if you want one each side of the tyre, which is the usual choice for a trailer being loaded or parked on a slope.
Cored or solid?
Cored is lighter and costs less. The solid version is heavier and has a longer expected life, so it suits chocks in constant daily use.
Will it suit a lighter vehicle?
Yes, as long as the tyre fits against it. The 44-tonne figure is the maximum vehicle weight, not a minimum.
