Cold Room PVC Strip Curtain Kit | Clear Hook-On | Walk-In Chillers 0°C to +40°C

Every time a cold room door stands open, the refrigeration plant works harder to replace the cold air that rolls out across the floor. In a busy chiller the door is open most of the day. This clear PVC strip curtain hangs inside the doorway so the door can stay open while staff walk or wheel through, and the strips fall back to hold the cold in behind them. It is a complete hook-on kit, with a 430-grade stainless steel rail and 200mm x 2mm clear strips cut to length and ready to hang, for walk-in chillers and cold rooms running at 0°C or above. Choose from 11 widths and 6 heights, from 856mm x 2000mm up to 2496mm x 2500mm.

Why it works

Holds the cold while the door is open. Cold air is heavier than warm air and spills out at floor level the moment the door opens. A curtain of overlapping strips slows that spill, so the room recovers faster and the plant does less work during deliveries, picking and restocking. It also helps keep dust and flying pests out of the store.

Clear, so nobody walks into anyone. The PVC is standard clear with outstanding see-through quality and very little distortion. Staff carrying crates or pushing trolleys can see who is on the other side before they step through.

The overlap that seals the doorway. Each 200mm strip starts 164mm along from the last, so neighbours overlap by 36mm on each side and 36% of every strip is doubled up. For a chiller doorway with pedestrian and trolley traffic, that balances cold retention against easy movement.

Clean, easy to keep. The 430-grade stainless steel rail resists corrosion and wipes clean, which suits food storage areas. Each strip has a steel plate that hooks on and off, so you can take strips down to clean or replace one that is damaged in seconds. The PVC is flexible, impact resistant, DOP free and fully REACH compliant.

Walk-in chillers and cold rooms in restaurants, hotels, pubs and school kitchens, butchers, delis and farm shops, supermarket and convenience store back rooms, food distribution and packing warehouses, and chilled storage in pharmacies and florists. Rated for 0°C to +40°C: for walk-in freezers, choose the freezer kit instead.

Choosing the right size

Width. Measure between the inside edges of the door frame and choose a curtain a little wider, so the outer strips close against the frame. A typical 900mm cold room door takes the 1020mm curtain. All sizes are nominal.

Height. Measure from the underside of the frame to the floor. If you fall between two heights, go up one: the strips trim easily so they finish just above the floor without dragging through spills.

Fitting and care

Fix the rail to the panel or lintel above the door opening, across its full width, because the rail is not self-supporting. Use M6 fixings suited to the surface: for insulated panels, use panel fixings that will not crush the panel. Hook on each strip and check the overlap. The strips travel rolled, so a slight curl at the bottom is normal; it relaxes more slowly in the cold, so unroll them and leave them flat overnight in a warm room before you hang them.

Wipe the strips down with warm soapy water as part of your cleaning schedule. PVC strip is a consumable: busy doors and trolley knocks wear it faster, and you can replace any strip on its own with our hook-on clear replacement strips, cut to length with the plate fitted.
