Description
Every time a door is propped open, heat goes out, dust comes in and the cold follows you round the building. Shut it, and nobody can see the forklift, the trolley or the colleague coming the other way. This clear PVC strip curtain gives you both: a barrier across the opening that people walk or wheel straight through, with a clear view either side. It is a complete hook-on kit, with a 430-grade stainless steel rail and 200mm x 2mm clear strips cut to length and ready to hang. Choose from 11 widths and 6 heights, from 856mm x 2000mm up to 2496mm x 2500mm, for internal doorways in warehouses, workshops, stockrooms, shops and offices.

Why it works
A door that is always open and always closed. The strips hang across the opening and close behind each person or trolley that passes. That helps hold heat in winter and cooled air in summer, cuts draughts, and helps keep dust, weather, flying debris and pests out of the next area. There is no handle to reach for and nothing to hold open.
Clear enough to see who is coming. Standard clear PVC is the most common strip curtain material because it lets light through with very little distortion. People, trolleys and stock on the far side stay visible, which matters on any route that people and loads share.
The overlap that closes the gaps. Each 200mm strip starts 164mm along from the last, so neighbouring strips overlap by 36mm on each side and 36% of every strip is doubled up. That is the right balance for a pedestrian door: enough overlap to close the opening when it hangs still, light enough to walk through easily.
Strips you can swap one at a time. Every strip carries a stainless steel plate that hooks on to the rail. A damaged strip lifts off and a new one hooks on, without taking the curtain down. The PVC is flexible, impact resistant, carries anti-UV filters and also helps cut noise between areas. It is DOP free and fully REACH compliant.
Where it is used
Typical openings are warehouse goods-in and packing areas, stockroom doors behind trade counters, workshop and garage parts stores, loading-bay pedestrian doors, factory corridors and office partitions. It is built for people on foot and careful trolley traffic. For forklifts and pallet trucks through a loading bay, choose our heavy duty loading bay strip curtain, with 400mm x 4mm strips bolted into swivel hinges.

Choosing the right size
Width. Measure between the inside edges of the opening and choose a curtain a little wider, so the outer strips cover the edges. For a 900mm single door, the 1020mm curtain is the right choice. All sizes are nominal.
Height. Measure from the underside of the frame to the floor, allowing for the rail if it fixes above the frame. If you fall between two heights, go up one, because the strips trim easily to finish just above the floor.
| Width | Strips | Typical opening |
|---|---|---|
| 856mm to 1184mm | 5 to 7 | Single internal doors |
| 1348mm to 1840mm | 8 to 11 | Double doors and wide corridors |
| 2004mm to 2496mm | 12 to 15 | Wide openings and loading-bay pedestrian doors |

Fitting and care
Fix the rail to a beam, lintel or other solid surface across the full width of the opening, because it is not self-supporting. Use M6 fixings to suit the surface, hook on each strip and check the overlap. The strips travel rolled, so a slight curl at the bottom is normal and relaxes in time, more slowly in the cold. Unrolling them flat overnight before hanging helps.
Fit the curtain inside the opening wherever you can, because weather wears PVC faster and clouds it. Strips are a consumable: busy doors need new strips sooner, and you can replace them one at a time with our hook-on clear replacement strips, cut to length with the plate fitted. Spare rail lengths and bulk clear PVC rolls are also available.
Frequently asked questions
What is in the kit?
The stainless steel rail and the clear strips, cut to your chosen height with plates fitted and ready to hang, plus fitting instructions. Rail fixings are not included because they depend on what you are fixing into. The rail takes M6 fixings.
Can trolleys and forklifts go through?
People on foot and careful trolley use are fine. For regular forklift or pallet truck traffic, choose our heavy duty loading bay strip curtain, which uses 400mm x 4mm strips with 60% overlap bolted into swivel hinges. For other doors, call 01744 520 110 with your door size and traffic and we will advise.
Will it work in a cold room or freezer?
No. Standard clear PVC is recommended for 0°C to +40°C. For chilled rooms choose the cold room kit, and for freezers the freezer kit, which are made for lower temperatures.
Can I cut the strips shorter?
Yes. The strips trim with a sharp knife against a straight edge, so you can finish them just above the floor or fit an opening between two heights.
Is it a fire door?
No. A fire rating is not published for this line, so it must not replace a fire door or hang across a route that needs one. Check your fire risk assessment first.
