Description
A trailer backing onto bare concrete chips the dock face a little more every day, until the repair bill lands on you. This solid rubber dock bumper gives the trailer something to stop against instead. It measures 600 x 250 x 108mm, weighs 15.5kg and fixes to your dock face through three recessed holes, so the bolt heads stay below the rubber the vehicle touches. There is no back plate or front plate to assemble. It is one block to lift up, mark out and bolt on, for warehouses, distribution yards and goods-in bays that want more height than a 450mm bumper gives.
Why this bumper works
More height for the trailer to find. Trailer beds vary in height, and a trailer rises and drops as it is loaded and unloaded. Fitted upright, this bumper gives you 600mm of rubber from top to bottom, which is 150mm more contact height than a 450mm bumper on the same dock face.
The fixings sit below the surface. Each hole is 75mm wide for the first 50mm, then 28mm through to the wall. The bolt head and washer sit down inside the recess, with 50mm of rubber standing in front of them, rather than on the face a vehicle touches.
The stand-off keeps steel off your wall. The block stands 108mm proud of the dock face, so a trailer meets rubber before it reaches concrete. Check this against any other bumpers on the same dock, so they all take contact evenly.
Three fixings along its length. The holes run in one line down the centre, 125mm in from each end and 175mm apart, which spreads the fixings along the full height of the block.
Simple to replace. When the rubber has worn, undo the three fixings and fit a new block in the same holes. There are no plates to line up.
No compression or load figure is published for this line. If your specification needs one, call us before you order.
Where it is used
Use it on concrete dock faces beside dock levellers, on raised loading platforms at distribution centres, at goods-in doors in factories and on brick or concrete walls that reversing vehicles keep catching. Fit one each side of a door where trailers back in square. On a bay where trailers rub up and down hard against the bumper, look at a low friction faced bumper instead, as covered below.

Is this the right bumper?
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| A standard dock wall where you want more height than a 450mm bumper | This 600 x 250 x 108mm bumper |
| Less wall space, or lighter contact from smaller vehicles | 450 x 250 x 100mm bumper |
| Trailer heights that vary widely across your fleet | 750 x 250 x 100mm bumper |
| A wider contact face in conveyor belt and steel | 600 x 380 x 105mm laminated bumper |
| A busy HGV bay where trailers rub up and down | 750 x 250 x 115mm bumper with a low friction face |
| The top edge of a loading ramp | L shaped 450 x 450 x 100mm bumper |
Measure before you order. You need 600 x 250mm of clear, sound surface, and a position that lines up with the part of the trailer that reaches the dock first.
Fitting and care
Mark out from the dimension drawing in the gallery, then offer the bumper up and check the holes against it before you drill. At 15.5kg it is a manageable lift, but it helps to have a second person holding it while the first fixing goes in. Fix into sound concrete or structure, and have a competent installer confirm that the wall and anchors suit the loads at your dock. A bumper can only pass on what its fixing point can take.
Check the rubber and fixings during your routine dock inspections, and replace the bumper once it is torn or worn back towards the fixing heads. A dock bumper protects the building and vehicle from routine contact. It is not a vehicle restraint and does not replace wheel chocks or a banksman.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one bumper or a pair?
The price shown is for one bumper. Most doors use one each side, so add a quantity of 2 if you are protecting both sides of a bay.
Are fixings included?
Yes, free fixings are included. If your wall needs a particular type of anchor, call us before you order. The holes are 28mm through, opening to 75mm wide for the bolt head and washer.
Does it have a back plate or front plate?
No. It is a single rubber block that fixes directly to your wall through its three holes. The back has shallow moulded recesses, which you can see in the gallery.
Which way up does it fit?
It is designed to fit upright, with the 600mm length running from top to bottom and the three holes in a vertical line. That gives trailers at different heights the most rubber to meet.
Is it strong enough for HGVs?
It is made for loading docks where heavy goods vehicles reverse in, and no load figure is published for it. For very heavy use or hard vertical rubbing, a plated or low friction bumper is often the better match, so call us if you are unsure.
