Description
On a busy forklift or pallet truck doorway, flat clear strips soon scuff, cloud and tear. Ribbed strips are made for that traffic. Raised ribs run the full length of these clear PVC strips. Loads ride on the ribs instead of dragging across the whole face, so the strip resists scuffing and the view through stays clearer for longer. Every strip is cut to the length you choose and punched along the top edge to bolt straight into the hinges on a heavy duty swivel hinge rail. Choose 300mm x 3mm strips for rails set for 56% or 80% overlap, or 400mm x 4mm strips for rails set for 60% or 100% overlap, from 1 metre up to 10 metres long. The price shown is per strip and includes VAT.
Which strip do I need?
Swivel hinge rails are set up for one strip width and one overlap, so the holes in a new strip have to match. First measure the width of an old strip.
300mm wide strips: count the slotted holes along the top. On our strips, 2 holes means 56% overlap and 4 holes means 80% overlap.
400mm wide strips: measure from the centre of one swivel hinge to the centre of the next. About 280mm means 60% overlap, the rail on our heavy duty loading bay curtain. About 200mm means 100% overlap.

Why ribbed strip
Built for vehicle doorways. The ribs take the rubbing from pallets, cages and forklift masts, so the clear PVC between them is protected from scuffs and scratches.
Loads pass through more easily. With less of the strip touching the load, goods slide through more easily.
Still clear. Drivers and pedestrians can see each other through the curtain. The ribs add faint vertical lines to the view, but they do not block it.
Mix with clear strips. Ribbed strips bolt into the same hinges as flat clear strips of the same size and overlap, so you can fit them only where loads pass. Flat clear strips are on our 300mm, 400mm 60% overlap and 400mm 100% overlap pages.
Choosing the length
Measure an old strip end to end. If it is damaged or stretched, measure from the bolt holes in the hinge to just above the floor. Lengths go up in 100mm steps. For an exact length, choose the next size up, then trim the bottom of the strip with a sharp knife against a straight edge. For a length outside this range, call us for a quote.

Fitting
Undo the nuts on the hinge holding the worn strip and lift it away. Line up the punched holes in the new strip with the hinge plates, push the bolts through, and tighten the nuts and washers. Check it overlaps the strips either side as before. Strips are delivered rolled, so a slight curl at the bottom is normal and drops out in time, more slowly in the cold. Unrolling them flat overnight before fitting helps. On a high rail, work from a scissor lift or other safe platform, never from the forks of a truck. Strip curtains do not replace safe traffic routes: keep vehicle speeds low through the curtain and keep pedestrians separate from forklift doorways where you can.
Frequently asked questions
Will these fit my rail?
They fit swivel hinge rails, the round tube rail with a hinge clamp for every strip, set for 300mm strips at 56% or 80% overlap or 400mm strips at 60% or 100% overlap. If your rail does not match, call 01744 520 110 with a photo and we will check. If your strips are clamped under flat plates on a grooved aluminium rail, choose our twin track ribbed strips.
Are bolts included?
No. The strip comes punched and ready to fit, and you re-use the nuts and bolts from the strip you are replacing.
Can I use them in a freezer?
No. This ribbed PVC is recommended for 0°C to +40°C and stiffens below freezing. For freezer doors on a 300mm rail, choose our polar ribbed swivel hinge strips, punched for 56% or 80% overlap. For 400mm freezer strips, call us.
Can I use them outside?
The PVC has anti-UV filters, but every strip lasts longer and stays clearer when it is fitted inside the opening, sheltered from the weather.
Why is there a minimum order?
Strips are cut and punched to order, so the minimum order is 10 strips. If you need fewer, call 01744 520 110.
