Description
A swivel hinge curtain is only as good as its worst strip. Once one is split, stretched or too cloudy to see through, people start pushing through blind and the doorway leaks heat and dust. These clear PVC strips are 300mm wide, cut to the length you choose and punched along the top edge to bolt straight into the hinges on a heavy duty swivel hinge rail set for 56% or 80% overlap. Unbolt the worn strip, bolt the new one in, and the curtain is back to full strength without taking the rail down. Choose 3mm or 4mm thick, from 1 metre up to 4.5 metres (56%) or 5 metres (80%) long. The price shown is per strip and includes VAT.
Which overlap is my rail?
Swivel hinge rails are set up for one strip width and one overlap, so the holes in a new strip have to match. The quickest check is to count the slotted holes along the top of an old strip: on our strips, 2 holes means 56% overlap and 4 holes means 80% overlap. The photos above show both. 3mm or 4mm?
300mm x 3mm, medium duty. Busy pedestrian, trolley and pallet truck doors, and partitions between work areas.
300mm x 4mm, heavy duty. Thicker, heavier strip for doors with forklift traffic or strong draughts. Match the strips already on your rail if you are only replacing a few. For busy forklift doorways, our ribbed swivel hinge strips have raised ribs that take the rubbing from loads, and bolt into the same hinges.
Choosing the length
Measure an old strip end to end. If it is damaged or stretched, measure from the bolt holes in the hinge to just above the floor. Lengths go up in 100mm steps. For an exact length, choose the next size up, then trim the bottom of the strip with a sharp knife against a straight edge. For a length outside this range, call us for a quote.

Fitting
Undo the nuts on the hinge holding the worn strip and lift it away. Line up the punched holes in the new strip with the hinge plates, push the bolts through, and tighten the nuts and washers. Check it overlaps the strips either side as before. Strips are delivered rolled, so a slight curl at the bottom is normal and drops out in time, more slowly in the cold. Unrolling them flat overnight before fitting helps. On a high rail, work from a safe platform, never from the forks of a truck. Strip curtains do not replace safe traffic routes: keep vehicle speeds low through the curtain and keep pedestrians separate from forklift doorways where you can.
Frequently asked questions
Will these fit my rail?
They fit swivel hinge rails, the round tube rail with a hinge clamp for every strip, set for 300mm strips at 56% or 80% overlap. If the holes in your old strip do not match either pattern, call 01744 520 110 with a photo and we will check.
Do you have black or red strips for this rail?
Yes. Our 300mm black or red swivel hinge strips are punched for the same 56% and 80% overlap rails and bolt into the same hinges. Use red at the edges of a clear curtain to mark the doorway, or black where the view needs to be blocked.
Are bolts included?
No. The strip comes punched and ready to fit, and you re-use the nuts and bolts from the strip you are replacing.
Can I use them outside?
The PVC has anti-UV filters, but every strip lasts longer and stays clearer when it is fitted inside the opening, sheltered from the weather.
Can I use them in a freezer?
No. Standard clear PVC is recommended for 0°C to +40°C and stiffens below freezing. For freezer doors, call us about polar grade strips.
Why is there a minimum order?
Strips are cut and punched to order, so the minimum order is 10 strips. If you need fewer, call 01744 520 110.
