Tapered End Pieces for 3 Channel Cable Ramp - Pair, Male and Female, 590 x 80 mm

A pair of tapered rubber end pieces that finish both ends of a 3 channel cable ramp run. You get one male end and one female end. They click onto our 3 channel cable ramp with yellow lid, so a run ends in a low sloped edge instead of a square 80mm block. The channels carry straight on through each end piece, open at the top, so your cables and hoses run out of the ramp and down to the ground in line. Each end piece is 590mm wide and 80mm high, the same as the ramp. The male end is 150mm long and the female end 200mm. The pair weighs about 9kg. Ramp sections are sold separately.

Why fit end pieces

No square edge at the end of the run. Without end pieces, a run of ramps stops in an 80mm high face with the connectors showing. The tapered end slopes down to the ground, so there is less to trip on where the run meets a footpath, verge or kerb.

Cables leave the run in line. The three channels continue through the end piece: two about 70mm wide and one about 55mm wide, all 50mm deep, matching the ramp. Cables and hoses come out of the run where they went in, without being bent sharply over an edge.

Covers the connectors. The male end has two lugs that fit the slots on the first ramp section. The female end has two slots that take the lugs on the last section. With both fitted, there are no loose lugs or open slots at either end.

Same strength as the ramp. When joined to the 3 channel ramp, the run is rated for 12 tonnes per vehicle axle at 5 mph or less.

Where it is used

Fit them at both ends of any 3 channel run: building site haul roads and gateways, event service roads where generator leads cross, temporary pumping and dewatering across yards, depots and car parks, and film and TV locations. They are most useful where people walk past the ends of the run, or where cables have to come out of the ramp and carry on along the ground.

Specifications

Sizes are approximate. Rubber can shrink slightly as it cures, so allow a few millimetres either way.

Choosing the right parts

One pair finishes one run, however long it is: a male end at the start and a female end at the finish. Two separate crossings need two pairs. These end pieces only fit the 3 channel ramp. The channels on our other ramps are laid out differently.

How to fit them

1. Lay the ramp sections across the crossing on firm, level ground, clicked together end to end.
2. Push the lugs of the male end into the slots at the start of the first section.
3. Fit the female end over the lugs at the end of the last section.
4. Lay the cables or hoses through the channels, out through the end pieces, and close the ramp lids.
5. Put signs in place to slow traffic to 5 mph.

Care

Wash off mud and grit with water. Check the lugs and slots for splits before each use, and replace an end piece if a lug is torn. Keep them with the ramp sections so a full run goes out together.
