Description
When HGV trailers ride up over ordinary bumpers, this one stands about 560mm above the dock to stop them. It is an extremely large and robust dock bumper for bays where trailers override by a considerable height. Despite the steel construction it can still compress, because there is a rubber core behind the steel hood. The fixings are included free. It suits warehouse managers, site maintenance teams and loading bay installers with docks where smaller bumpers get overrun or destroyed.
- 960 x 590 x 200mm, weighing 85kg
- Free fixings included: nine M16 through-anchor studs and nine washers
- Stands about 560mm above the dock and goes 400mm below it
- Steel hood over a conveyor belt rubber core
- 450mm base plate and large gusset on top of the dock
- Nine fixing holes, 20mm, taking M16 anchor bolts
- Sold singly, and most doors use two

Why It Works
Made for trailers that override
Air-suspended trailers can ride well above dock level, so a low bumper never gets touched and the trailer meets the building or the leveller instead. This bumper carries its steel face about 560mm above the dock top, so a high trailer still meets steel.
Steel outside, rubber core inside
Solid steel would pass the shock straight into your dock. Here a conveyor belt rubber core sits behind the 12.5mm steel hood, so compression is still possible and it absorbs impact while the steel takes the wear.
A big gusset to carry the load
A bumper this tall needs holding at the top. A large triangular gusset runs back to a 450mm base plate on the dock surface, with six of the nine fixing holes in it. So the load goes into the top of the dock as well as its face.
Load figures
No compression or load figure is published for this line. If your specification needs one, call us before you order.
Where It's Used
This bumper goes either side of a dock leveller or door opening, on bays that see trailers overriding: busy distribution centres, supermarket and parcel depots, and sites taking a wide mix of trailer heights. Before you order, check the door, its seals and any leveller frame clear a bumper standing about 560mm above the dock, and that there is 450mm of solid dock top behind the face.

Installation, Use & Care
At 85kg this is a mechanical lift, so plan for it. Fit one each side of the dock opening, with the base plate flat on the dock top and the lower plate flat against the dock face. Sit it in place and mark through the holes before you drill, because the hole positions are not dimensioned. All nine holes are 20mm, and the free M16 through-anchor studs and washers are for fixing into sound concrete. Have a competent installer confirm that the wall and anchors suit the loads at your dock, because a bumper can only pass on what its fixing point can take.
Check the hood, bolts and fixings during routine bay inspections. This bumper protects against docking contact. It is not a vehicle restraint and does not replace wheel chocks or safe docking procedures.
FAQ
How many do I need per door?
Most bays use two, one either side of the opening. The price shown is for one bumper, so add two to your basket for a standard door.
Are fixings included?
Yes. Free fixings are included with each bumper: nine M16 through-anchor studs, 125 to 140mm long, and nine washers (50mm OD, 16mm ID, 3mm thick), for fitting into sound concrete. That is one for each of the three holes in the lower plate and the six in the base plate.
Why is it described as 590mm when it stands off the wall so much less?
The 590mm is the whole depth from the front of the hood to the back of the base plate. The bumper stands only about 137mm off the wall. The rest sits on top of your dock, so allow for that 450mm on the dock surface.
Will it get in the way of my door?
It can, because it stands about 560mm above the dock top. Check your door track, seals and leveller frame before you order, and call us if you are unsure.
Can it compress if it is steel?
Yes. The rubber core behind the hood lets it compress under load, despite the steel construction.
