Description
Where trailers grind against a rubber bumper and tear it up, this one gives them a steel plate to meet instead. The steel front plate sits over a laminated conveyor belt core, and it is fixed at the rear with elongated holes, so the plate can move back and the rubber can compress under pressure. It is extremely tough, and a hooded top and a flange over the dock edge make it a job for hard-worked bays. It suits warehouse managers, site maintenance teams and loading bay installers looking after docks that destroy ordinary bumpers.
- 620 x 360 x 140mm, and 670mm tall with the hood
- Free fixings included: eight M16 through-anchor studs and eight washers
- Weight 65kg
- 250mm wide steel front plate over a conveyor belt core
- 200mm flange that sits on top of the dock
- Eight fixing holes: six in the back plate, two in the flange
- Sold singly, and most doors use two

Why It Works
Steel takes the contact, rubber takes the force
On a plain rubber bumper, the vehicle wears the same material that absorbs the force. Here the two jobs are separated. The steel plate meets the trailer, and the laminated conveyor belt behind it does the absorbing. Think of it as a laminated bumper with a steel front added.
The front plate is free to move
The plate is held at the rear through elongated holes, not fixed solid. When a trailer pushes on it, the plate moves back and the rubber compresses. Four bolts each side hold the assembly together, and you can see them clearly in the photos.
A hood and a flange at the top
The top of the front plate angles back to form a hood, standing 50mm above the back plate. A 200mm steel flange runs back from the top of the back plate and sits on the dock surface, with two more fixing holes. So this bumper is held on top of the dock as well as on its face.

Where It's Used
This bumper goes on the dock face either side of a dock leveller or door opening, with its flange on top of the dock, at distribution centres, manufacturing plants and goods-in bays. Choose it where trailers rub up and down hard enough to tear rubber, or where a softer bumper keeps needing replacing. It needs a dock edge you can fix to from the top as well as the face, so check there is nothing in the way of the 200mm flange.

| The same idea in a longer body | 730 x 280 x 140mm bumper with a steel hood |
| A low friction yellow face that slides with the trailer | 760 x 270 x 110mm sliding bumper |
| Plain conveyor belt, no steel front | 900 x 400 x 105mm laminated bumper |

Measure before you order. You need 360 x 620mm of clear, sound wall, plus room for the flange on top of the dock. A 140mm stand-off also sets the gap between trailer and leveller, so check your leveller lip still reaches the trailer bed. You can also browse all dock bumpers.
Installation, Use & Care
At 65kg this is a job for two people with a lifting aid. Sit the flange on top of the dock and mark through the holes, because the hole spacings across the back plate and flange are approximate. The free M16 through-anchor studs and washers are for fixing into sound concrete, and the washers cover the 19 to 20mm holes. Have a competent installer confirm that the wall and anchors suit the loads at your dock, because a bumper can only pass on what its fixing point can take.
Check the plate, bolts and fixings during routine bay inspections. This bumper protects against routine docking contact. It is not a vehicle restraint and does not replace wheel chocks or safe docking procedures.
FAQ
How many do I need per door?
Most bays use two, one either side of the leveller or door opening. The price shown is for one bumper, so add two to your basket for a standard door.
Are fixings included?
Yes. Free fixings are included with each bumper: eight M16 through-anchor studs, 125 to 140mm long, and eight washers (50mm OD, 16mm ID, 3mm thick), for fitting into sound concrete. That is one for each of the six holes in the back plate and the two in the flange.
Is it solid steel?
No. The front, back plate and flange are steel, and the core is laminated conveyor belt, which is what absorbs the force. That is why the front plate is fixed with elongated holes: it has to be able to move back as the rubber compresses.
Why is it described as 620mm if it is 670mm tall?
The 620mm is the back plate that fixes to the wall. The hood on the front plate rises another 50mm above it, so allow for 670mm overall.
Does the flange have to go on top of the dock?
It is built to. The flange sits on the dock surface and has two of the eight fixing holes. If your dock edge has a leveller frame or anything else in that spot, call us before you order.
