Description
Trailers do not stay still on a loading bay, and this bumper moves with them. The suspension drops as a forklift drives on and rises as it drives off, and a fixed bumper gets dragged with every movement. Here a solid yellow cast nylon front plate sits in a black steel cradle and slides up and down with the trailer. It is the shorter 450mm version of our nylon bumper, for bays with less wall to fix to, and the fixings are included free. It suits distribution centres, factories and goods-in doors where trailers load and unload all day and ordinary buffers keep tearing.

Why a Sliding Nylon Bumper Lasts
The plate moves with the trailer
The front plate has an H profile, with a slot along each long side. The lips of the steel cradle sit in those slots, so the plate is held against the wall but stays free to slide. The hard-wearing nylon slides up and down as the trailer rises and falls, instead of being dragged.
One plate has several working faces
When the face wears, the plate can be turned 180 degrees and reversed back to front, giving up to 4x the life of a standard bumper. You get that extra life before you need a new plate.
Cast nylon takes the rubbing
The plate is 100mm of cast nylon 6, made to withstand wear and abrasion with high impact resistance and toughness, so it lasts in high-traffic bays. There are no holes or fixings in the front face, so there is nothing on the surface for the back of a trailer to catch. It protects your loading dock and vehicles from impact damage during loading and unloading.
The packer keeps the cushion
A 20mm rubber packer sits behind the plate, so the assembly keeps its ability to compress.

Where It's Used
This bumper goes on the dock face either side of a dock leveller or door opening, at distribution centres, manufacturing plants and goods-in bays. Choose the 450mm length where wall space is limited. A longer bumper covers more trailer heights, so if you have the wall and your trailers vary, compare the 750mm version below.

Measure your existing projection before changing depth, because it sets the gap between the trailer and the leveller. You can also browse all dock bumpers.
Installation, Use & Care
Fit to flat, solid concrete without cracks or hollows. Mark out from the drawing above and fix with the four free M16 through-anchor studs, having a competent installer confirm that they suit your wall and the loads at your dock, because a bumper can only pass on what the wall can take. At 23kg, plan on two people to hold it while you fix it. Most docks fit them upright and level with each other, either side of the leveller.
Check the face and fixings during routine dock inspections, and turn the plate before wear reaches the slots. A dock bumper protects the building and vehicle from routine docking contact. It is not a vehicle restraint and does not replace wheel chocks or a banksman.

What material is it made from?
The front plate is cast nylon 6, which gives durability and impact resistance. Behind it are a rubber packer and a steel cradle back plate.
How many do I need per door?
Most loading bays use two, one each side of the dock leveller, so the trailer lands evenly on both. The price shown is for one bumper, so add a quantity of 2 for a typical door.
Why does the front plate slide?
A loaded trailer moves up and down on its suspension while it sits against the dock. Because the plate can travel with it in the cradle, the trailer is not dragging across a fixed face each time a forklift drives on or off.
How does it protect my equipment?
It takes the impact and prevents damage to vehicles and loading dock structures during operations.
Are fixings included?
Yes. Free fixings are included with each bumper: four M16 through-anchor studs, 125 to 140mm long, one for each of the 18mm holes in the back plate, for fitting into flat solid concrete.
