Description
When a standard bumper leaves too little gap between the trailer and your dock, this one holds it 165mm off the wall. It is the deep version of our tall sliding dock bumper, for loading bays that need more stand-off and more give behind the face. It suits warehouse managers, site maintenance teams and loading bay installers fitting out or repairing bays that take articulated trailers all day.
This dock bumper has a large impact area with no holes in the UHMWPE face plate for the back of the truck to snag on. The 50mm thick face can slide freely up and down in its steel cradle back plate. This bumper compresses 20mm under a 20 tonne load.
- 760mm by 275mm by 165mm
- Weight 63kg
- Free fixings included: six M16 anchor studs and two washers
- Cost-effective solution to protect your building from damage.

Why It Works
Two rubber layers behind the face
Open the top of this bumper and you see two thick layers of rubber stacked inside a deep galvanised cradle. That extra rubber is what the depth buys you: this assembly compresses 20mm under a 20 tonne load, where our 110mm deep version compresses 11mm under 15 tonnes. Those figures let you check the stand-off against your own dock and leveller instead of guessing.
The face moves with the trailer
A trailer sinks as a forklift drives on and rises as it comes off. On a fixed buffer, that movement drags across the rubber and tears it. Here the 50mm face can slide up and down inside its cradle, so the movement is taken by a low friction surface instead.
Nothing on the face to catch
The UHMWPE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene) face has no holes along its 750mm length, so there are no bolt heads or recesses for the back of a truck to snag on. All six fixing holes sit in the back plate, behind the face. The yellow also gives a driver a clear reference point when reversing.
Repair the part that is damaged
The galvanised back plate is sold separately on this page, so a bent cradle does not mean ordering a complete assembly.
Where It's Used
This bumper goes on the dock face either side of a dock leveller or door opening, at distribution centres, manufacturing plants and goods-in bays. Choose it over a shallower bumper when your trailers need to stop further from the wall. Because the stand-off sets the gap between trailer and leveller, measure your existing setup and check that your leveller lip still reaches the trailer bed before you change depth.

Choosing the Right Option
Choose the Dock Bumper for a new bay or to replace a complete unit. It is the full assembly of sliding face, two rubber layers and steel cradle, and most doors need two.
Choose the Back Plate only if your cradle has been damaged and the rest is still serviceable, or if you want to fix the steel ahead of the rest of the job. It is the backing plate used in this bumper.
Need 50mm more stand-off? The deep 750 x 250 x 100mm replacement face swaps in for the standard 50mm face in this cradle and takes the bumper to about 215mm deep. Check that your leveller lip still reaches the trailer bed before you fit it.
Trailers riding over the leveller? The two 26mm holes at the top of the back plate take M24 bolts for fixing to an above dock angle bracket, if required. The bracket is sold as an option on the 760 x 270 x 110mm bumper page. Call us if you want to check the fit for your dock first.
Need a different size? The 760 x 270 x 110mm bumper has the same height with less stand-off. The 465 x 280 x 160mm bumper has similar depth in a shorter length. You can also browse all dock bumpers.
Installation, Use & Care
At 63kg this is a job for two people with a lifting aid. Fit it to sound concrete using six M16 through-anchor studs and two washers, and have a competent installer confirm that the wall and anchors suit the loads at your dock. Mark out from the drawing above, then offer the back plate up and check the holes against it before you drill. The two washers suit the larger 26mm holes at the top, where a 16mm stud would otherwise sit loose.
Check the face, rubber and fixings during routine bay inspections, and replace damaged parts before the steel starts taking hits. This bumper protects against routine docking contact. It is not a vehicle restraint and does not replace wheel chocks or safe docking procedures.
FAQ
How many do I need per door?
Most bays use two, one either side of the leveller or door opening. The price shown is for one bumper, so add two to your basket for a standard door.
Are fixings included?
Yes. Free fixings are included with the Dock Bumper option: six M16 through-anchor studs, 125 to 140mm long, and two washers (50mm OD, 16mm ID, 3mm thick), for fitting to sound concrete. The M24 bolts for an above dock bracket are not part of this set.
How much does it compress?
The assembly compresses 20mm under a 20 tonne load. That is a compression figure, not a rating for what your wall or fixings can take, so have the dock structure checked as well.
Why choose this over the 110mm deep version?
This one stands 55mm further off the wall and has two rubber layers behind the face. Choose it when your bay needs the extra stand-off. If your existing bumpers are around 110mm and the gap to the leveller is right, stay with that depth.
Does the bumper come with the back plate?
Yes. The back plate is the steel cradle that holds the face and rubber, and it is part of the 63kg assembly. You only need the separate Back Plate option as a replacement or a spare.
How is it delivered?
Orders placed before 2pm, Monday to Friday, are dispatched the same day by Express UK Delivery. Plan for a 63kg item when receiving each unit.
