Description
If trailers are reaching your building before they reach the bumper face, this deeper face moves the contact point out by 50mm. It is a solid yellow UHMWPE face, 750 x 250 x 100mm, made to drop into the galvanised steel cradle of our 760mm sliding dock bumpers in place of the standard 50mm face. Nothing is bolted through it. The 10mm flange along each side sits in the cradle, and the face slides up and down as the trailer moves on its suspension. It is the face only, priced per piece.

Why fit the deeper face
50mm more stand-off. The standard face is 50mm thick. This one is 100mm, so the trailer stops 50mm further from the dock wall. That extra space can help where rear bumpers, tail lifts or under-run bars have been catching the building or the leveller.
A low friction surface. UHMWPE has a very low friction coefficient, so the back of the trailer can slide along the face as it rises and drops during loading, instead of dragging on it.
No holes in the face. The face is plain and flat with no bolt holes, so nothing on the trailer can catch on a recess or a bolt head.
It slides, it is not fixed. The face is held by its flange in the steel cradle, not by bolts through it. A face that can move with the trailer takes less of a beating than one that is clamped in place.
Easy for a driver to see. The bright yellow face stands out against grey concrete, which helps when reversing on to the bay in the mirrors.
In short: UHMWPE, 100mm deep, 50mm more projection than the standard face, no holes, yellow.
Where it is used
Loading bays at distribution centres, parcel depots, cold stores and factories that already run our 760mm sliding dock bumpers, where a deeper stand-off would suit the trailers that use the bay. It is also the part to keep in stock when you want a face on the shelf for a worn one.

Choosing the right face
Both of our 760mm sliding dock bumpers come with a 50mm yellow UHMWPE face. This deeper face swaps in for it in the same cradle. By our working, from the 50mm the deeper face adds, the overall depth becomes about 160mm on the 760 x 270 x 110mm bumper and about 215mm on the 760 x 275 x 165mm bumper.
| You want | Choose |
|---|---|
| A complete bumper, 110mm deep | 760 x 270 x 110mm sliding dock bumper |
| A complete bumper, 165mm deep | 760 x 275 x 165mm deep sliding dock bumper |
| A like-for-like standard face, 50mm thick | 750 x 250 x 50mm UHMWPE front panel |
| 50mm more stand-off on either bumper | This deep face |
A deeper face is not always better. The trailer stops further from the dock, so the leveller lip has further to reach. Check that your leveller lip will still land on the trailer bed with a safe overlap before you change every bay.
Fitting and care
Lift the worn face up and out of the cradle and lower this one in, flange first, so it sits square and slides freely. If an angle bracket is fitted above the bumper, it may need to come off first. At 17kg the face is twice the weight of the standard one, so have two people handle it at height. Check the face for wear and the cradle bolts for tightness during routine dock inspections. A dock bumper protects the building and vehicle from routine contact. It is not a vehicle restraint and does not replace wheel chocks or a banksman.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a complete dock bumper?
No, it is the face only. It fits the galvanised steel cradle of our 760mm sliding dock bumpers, which is sold with those bumpers or on its own as a back plate.
Do I need any fixings?
No. There are no holes in the face. It is held by its 10mm flange in the cradle and slides up and down in it.
Will it fit another make of sliding bumper?
It is made for our 760mm sliding bumpers. For another make, measure the inside of the cradle and compare it with the 250mm flange and 230mm body before you order.
How much further out will the trailer stop?
50mm further than with the standard 50mm face, because this face is 100mm deep.
How many do I need per door?
Most loading bays have two bumpers, one each side of the dock leveller, so most doors need two faces. The price shown is for one.
