Description
The same low pad, on a thicker steel base. Fitted to the chassis of a tipping body as a rubbing pad, this puts rubber between the body and the rail. That helps reduce noise and prevent expensive damage and wear to the bodywork and paintwork. The 6mm steel base makes it the heavier of our two 152 x 88 x 28mm pads, at about 0.75kg. The price is for one pad.

Why this pad works
Steel base. The base is a 6mm steel plate, thicker than the 5mm plate on the aluminium version.
A broad contact area. The rubber block is about 100mm long and 86mm wide, so the body has a wide seat to land on.
Room to fix it. The base runs past each end of the rubber, leaving clear metal to fix down.
Where it is used
Use it on the chassis of tipper lorries, tipping trailers and other tipping bodies, whether you are building new or replacing worn pads during a service.

How to fit it
- Raise the body and prop it safely before you work under it.

- Fix the base flat on the rail with the rubber facing up, as your body builder advises.
- Lower the body slowly and check that it lands square on the rubber.
Which pad do you need?
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| Same size, steel base | This pad |
| Same size, lighter aluminium base | 152 x 88 x 28mm aluminium base pad |
| A longer steel base pad | 355 x 75 x 30mm pad |
| A narrow 40mm steel base pad | 150 x 40 x 30mm pad |
Care
Check the pad when you service the vehicle, and replace it if the rubber is split or worn down. SBR rubber does not resist oil or fuel well, so keep the pad clear of leaks and grease. Treat any bare steel as you would the rest of the chassis.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this and the aluminium base pad?
The size is the same. This one has a 6mm steel base and weighs about 0.75kg. The other has a 5mm aluminium base and weighs about 0.42kg.
Is the price for one pad or a set?
The price is for one pad. Set the quantity to the number of points where your body meets the chassis.
Will it fit my tipper?
No vehicle fit list is published, so measure the seat and the rail, and compare them with the sizes above. If you are replacing an old pad, measure that too.
