Description

Cutting your own strip curtain from a roll, or re-hanging strips whose plates have bent or rusted? These are the plates that turn a plain PVC strip into a hook-on strip. Each set is a front plate with a row of hanging slots and a matching back plate. Sandwich the top of the strip between them, rivet them together with the aluminium rivets supplied, and hook the strip onto any standard hook-on rail with 41mm slot centres. Choose 430-grade stainless steel in 100mm, 200mm, 300mm or 400mm, or galvanised steel in 300mm or 400mm. The price shown is per set and includes VAT.

Hook-on plate set guide: 100mm to 400mm, stainless or galvanised, how to fit

Which size do I need?

Match the plate set to the width of your PVC strip: a 200mm strip takes a 200mm set, a 300mm strip a 300mm set, and so on. You need one set for every strip. When you choose a material, the photo changes to show that plate.

Plate size Stainless steel (430) Galvanised steel 10 sets (minimum order)
100mm £3.90 Not available £39.00 stainless
200mm £4.90 Not available £49.00 stainless
300mm £5.90 £4.90 £59.00 stainless, £49.00 galvanised
400mm £7.90 £7.90 £79.00 either

You can mix sizes and materials in one order: the minimum is 10 sets in total.

Stainless or galvanised?

430-grade stainless steel resists corrosion better and looks clean, so it is the usual choice for kitchens, food production, catering and retail areas, and anywhere that is cleaned often.

Galvanised mild steel is the economical choice for warehouses, factories and general industrial doorways where appearance matters less. It matches our galvanised hook-on rails.

Match the plates to your rail if you can: stainless plates on a stainless hook-on rail for food areas.

How to fit

Lay the front plate across the top end of the PVC strip and use it as a template: mark through the fixing holes and drill 6mm holes through the strip. Put the back plate behind the strip, line up the holes, and fix the plates together with the aluminium rivets supplied, using a rivet gun. Then hook the plate's slots onto the hooks of the rail. Every strip hangs on its own, so a damaged one can be lifted off and replaced without taking the curtain down.

You will need: a drill, a 6mm drill bit and a rivet gun. Work from a safe platform such as a podium step when hanging strips on a high rail.

Do you need plates at all?

If you only need a few replacement strips, our hook-on strips come cut to length with the stainless plate already riveted on, ready to hook straight onto the rail: clear, ribbed, freezer and food grade. Plate sets make sense when you are cutting your own strips from a roll, such as our clear PVC 50m rolls or clear PVC strip cut to length, or re-plating strips you already have.

Safety

Hook-on curtains suit doors used by people, trolleys and pump trucks. They are not designed for constant or heavy forklift impact: for those doors, choose a swivel hinge rail, where every strip is bolted into its own hinges, or an aluminium twin track rail. Check rivets when you replace strips, and replace any plate that is bent or cracked.

Frequently asked questions

Are the rivets included?

Yes. Every set comes with the aluminium rivets to fix the front and back plates together through the strip. You need a rivet gun to fit them.

Will these fit my rail?

They fit standard hook-on rails, the flat rail with a row of hooks along its edge, with 41mm slot centres. If your strips clamp under flat plates on a grooved aluminium rail, you need our twin track fixing plates instead.

Why is there no 100mm or 200mm galvanised set?

Galvanised plate sets are made in 300mm and 400mm only. For 100mm or 200mm strips, choose stainless.

Can I fit them to thick strips?

They suit standard PVC strip widths and thicknesses. If you are unsure about your strips, send a photo to sales@industrialsuppliesco.co.uk and we will check.

Why is there a minimum order?

The minimum order is 10 sets in total, and you can mix sizes and materials. If you need fewer, call 01744 520 110.
