The hook-on rail is the simplest way to hang a strip curtain: screw it up, hook the strips on, and lift any one strip off in seconds when it needs replacing. This galvanised steel version does the same job as stainless at a lower price, for warehouses, factories and general industrial doorways where the look of the rail matters less. It has a row of hooks at 41mm centres and pre-drilled 6mm fixing holes, and rails butt end to end to span any width. Choose 984mm or 1230mm lengths. The price shown is per rail and includes VAT.

Which rails do I need?

Measure the width of the opening and add a little each side so the outer strips overlap the frame. Then combine rail lengths to cover it.

Strips and plates

Every strip needs a hook-on plate across its top to hang on this rail. The easy way is to buy strips with the plate already riveted on: clear, ribbed, freezer or black or red. If you are cutting your own strips, add our hook-on plate sets, which come in galvanised steel to match this rail. For kitchens and food rooms, our stainless hook-on rails are the cleaner-looking choice.

Fitting

Face fixing: screw the rail flat to the wall or frame above the opening. This keeps the full height of the opening. Soffit fixing: screw it up into the underside of the lintel, inside the opening, which takes a little off the clear height. Use M6 screws or bolts that suit what you are fixing into: they are not supplied. The rail is not self-supporting, so fix it to a solid beam, door frame or lintel along its whole length, and check for cables and pipes before drilling. Then hook each strip's plate onto the rail, overlapping its neighbours. Work from a safe platform such as a podium step.

Hook-on rails suit doors used by people, trolleys and pump trucks. For heavy or repeated forklift traffic, choose a swivel hinge rail, where every strip is bolted into its own hinges, or an aluminium twin track rail. Keep vehicle speeds low through any strip curtain, and replace strips that have gone cloudy or scratched so people can see each other through it.
