Description
Solid black or red PVC strips for an aluminium twin track rail, cut to the length you choose and drilled ready to bolt on. Black strips screen a doorway, block the view and cut down the light passing through, making them a good fit for print rooms, workshops, stores and areas kept out of sight. Red strips are bright and easy to spot, so they mark the edges of a doorway or the line between two work areas. Choose black in 200mm x 2mm, 300mm x 3mm or 400mm x 4mm, or red in 200mm x 2mm, 300mm x 2mm, 300mm x 3mm or 400mm x 4mm, from 1 metre up to 3, 5 or 10 metres long. Each strip clamps onto your rail with the plate, nuts and bolts from the old strip. The price shown is per strip and includes VAT.
Is my rail twin track?
A twin track rail is a slim aluminium extrusion with two parallel grooves along its face, fixed above the opening on L-shaped brackets. Each strip is clamped under its own flat aluminium fixing plate, held by bolts that slide in the grooves. If your strips hang from hooks, see our hook-on solid colour strips. Which size do I need?
Match the strips already on your rail. Measure the width of an old strip, or count the bolts across its fixing plate: on our strips, 200mm strips take 2 bolts, 300mm take 3 and 400mm take 4. Check the thickness against a ruler or with a 2mm or 3mm sample. When you choose a colour and size, the photo changes to show that strip. Not sure? Black or red?
Black is fully opaque. Use it where you want to hide what is behind the door, keep light out of a room, or screen off a work area from the rest of the building.
Red is also opaque, and its bright colour stands out. It is often hung as the first and last strip of a clear curtain, so the edges of the opening are easy to see, or across a doorway into a separate work zone.

Choosing the length
Measure an old strip end to end. If it is damaged or stretched, measure from the top edge under the fixing plate to just above the floor. Lengths go up in 100mm steps to 3 metres, then in 500mm steps. For an exact length, choose the next size up, then trim the bottom of the strip with a sharp knife against a straight edge. Safety: you cannot see through these strips
Solid black and red strips are opaque, so people on one side cannot see who or what is coming the other way. Use a full curtain of colour strips only on doorways where people walk through at walking pace. On doors used by pallet trucks, trolleys or forklifts, hang clear strips across the middle of the opening and keep the colour strips to the edges, so drivers and pedestrians can always see each other. Keep vehicle speeds low through any strip curtain.
Fitting
Loosen the nuts on the fixing plate holding the worn strip, slide the strip off the bolts and lift the plate away. Push the holes in the new strip over the bolts, put the plate back over the top edge, and tighten the nuts evenly so the strip is clamped flat. Check it overlaps the strips either side as before. Strips are delivered rolled, so a slight curl at the bottom is normal and drops out in time. Unrolling them flat overnight before fitting helps. On a high rail, work from a safe platform such as a podium step, never from the forks of a truck.
Frequently asked questions
Are the fixing plates included?
No. The strips come cut and drilled, and you re-use the plate, nuts and bolts from the strip you are replacing. If you need new plates, call 01744 520 110.
Can I hang red strips at the edges of my clear curtain?
Yes, as long as the width matches. A 300mm x 3mm red strip clamps onto the same rail as a 300mm x 3mm clear strip. Order the red strips here and the clear strips from our twin track clear strips page.
Can I use them in a freezer?
No. These strips are recommended for 0°C to +40°C and stiffen below freezing. For sub-zero rooms, see our twin track freezer strips.
Are these welding strips?
No. These are solid colour strips for screening and marking doorways. They are not rated to protect against welding arc light. For welding bays, see our hook-on welding strips or, for a twin track rail, our twin track welding strips.
Why is there a minimum order?
