Description
Welding strips near the work get scorched, pitted by spatter and torn by trolleys, and a holed or missing strip lets arc light straight out onto the walkway. These welding PVC strips are cut to the length you choose and arrive with a 430-grade stainless steel hook-on plate already riveted across the top, ready to hook straight onto your rail. Lift the damaged strip off, hook the new one on, and the welding bay is screened again without taking the curtain down. The PVC is made to EN 1598 / ISO 25980 for welding curtains and screens, in Dark Green or Red. Choose 200mm or 300mm wide, from 1000mm long. The plate is included in the price.
Which strip do I need?
To replace a strip, match the colour, width and thickness of the strips already on your rail. Measure the width with a tape and compare the thickness with a 2mm or 3mm sample, or call us and we will help.

Choosing the length
Measure an old strip end to end, including the plate. If it is damaged, measure from the rail to just above the floor. Lengths run in 100mm steps. If you fall between two lengths, go up one: the bottom of the strip trims with a sharp knife against a straight edge.
Dark Green or Red?
Match the colour already on your curtain, so the screen looks even and gives the same view through it. On a new curtain, Dark Green is the darker of the two tints, and Red is lighter and easier to see through. Both are welding grade PVC to the same standard.

Fitting
Lift the old strip so its plate comes off the hooks on the rail. Line up the new plate with the hooks, hook it on and let it hang, overlapping the strips either side as before. Strips travel rolled, so unroll them and leave them flat overnight before you hang them, and the curl drops out.
Safety
Check welding curtains regularly and replace any strip that is holed, torn, heavily scorched or missing, because gaps let arc light through. The curtain screens people outside the bay. It does not replace the welder's own helmet, gloves and clothing.
Frequently asked questions
Will these fit my rail?
They fit hook-on rails, the flat metal rail with a row of hooks along its edge, like the stainless rail on our welding curtain kit. Check that your old strips have a metal plate across the top. To cut your own strips for a different hanging system, see our welding PVC strip rolls.
Is the plate included?
Yes. Every strip comes with its stainless steel plate fitted, and the price shown includes it.
How often should welding strips be replaced?
PVC strip is a consumable. Strips close to the work wear fastest from spatter and heat, so check them often and replace any that are holed or badly marked. Strips further from the arc last much longer.
Can I mix Dark Green and Red?
They will hang together on the same rail, but the screen will look uneven and the view through will change from strip to strip. We recommend matching your existing colour.
