Description
When a standard bumper does not hold trailers far enough off your dock, this one does. This extended rubber dock bumper measures 448 x 248 x 153mm and gives you 150mm of projection, about half as much again as a standard 100mm bumper. It is one solid moulded block weighing 15kg, and it bolts on through two recessed holes, either to a steel back plate or into sound concrete. Choose it for loading bays where trailers need holding further from the dock or where a shallower bumper leaves the structure exposed. The price is for one bumper, and most doors need two.

Why this bumper works
150mm of projection. The extra depth is the point of this bumper. A reversing trailer meets rubber sooner, so it stops further from your dock face than it would against a 100mm bumper.
Tested in a laboratory. In an independent compression test, this bumper took 7.2kN at about 20mm of compression, under a 100 x 51mm loading plate. Treat that as a comparison figure rather than a load rating. If your specification needs a rating, call us before you order.
The bolts sit deep inside. Each hole is 75mm wide for the first 50mm, then 31mm through to the wall. The nut and washer sit down inside the recess, away from the face a trailer touches.
Tapered, with a wide base. The block runs from a 448 x 248mm base on the wall to a 400 x 203mm face at the vehicle, on 254mm hole centres.
Room to upgrade. The life of this bumper can be extended greatly with a steel front plate. Rubber packers behind it let you fine-tune the projection while it can still compress.
Where it is used
Use it on loading dock faces and dock levellers at warehouses, distribution centres and factory despatch bays, wherever trailers need to stop further from the structure than a standard bumper allows. Fit one each side of a door.

Fixings you need
On a steel back plate: two M24 x 150mm studs, two M24 nuts and two 65mm OD washers.
Into sound concrete: use fixings that suit your wall and the 31mm through hole. Call us if you want advice on these before you order.
Parts that fit
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| 430 x 240 x 60mm steel front plate, 15kg | Side cheeks make it much stronger than a flat plate, and the bumper behind compresses to absorb the impact. Takes a smaller M24 washer, so tell us if you fit one |
| 460 x 255 x 15mm back plate, 15kg | Two M24 threaded holes to take this bumper. Bumpers and studs on a back plate are easier and quicker to replace than those fixed straight into concrete |
| 10, 15, 20 and 50mm rubber packers | Bring the stand-off out to 163, 168, 173 or 203mm. Choose them from the Size menu on that page |
Is this the right bumper?
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| Trailers need holding further off the dock | This 448 x 248 x 153mm bumper |
| A standard dock wall and trailers that back in square | 450 x 250 x 100mm bumper |
| More height, or trailers that vary in height | 600 x 250 x 108mm bumper |
| Trailers riding under the bumper and pulling it off the wall | 750 x 250 x 100mm bumper |
| Trailers rub up and down on the face | 465 x 275 x 110mm sliding bumper |
Fitting and care
Mark the two holes on 254mm centres, in line with the part of the trailer that reaches the dock first, then offer the bumper up and check before you drill. At 15kg, plan for two people. Have a competent installer confirm that the wall and anchors suit your dock, because a bumper can only pass on what its fixing point can take. A deeper bumper means trailers stop further from the dock, so check that your leveller lip can still reach the trailer bed.
Check the rubber and fixings during routine dock inspections, and replace the bumper once it is torn or worn back towards the nuts. A dock bumper protects the building and vehicle from routine contact. It is not a vehicle restraint.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one bumper or a pair?
The price is for one bumper. Most doors use one on each side, so set the quantity to 2 for each door.
Are fixings included?
No. For a steel back plate you need two M24 x 150mm studs, two nuts and two washers. For concrete, use fixings that suit your wall, or call us before you order.
Why 153mm if it has 150mm of projection?
The block is 153mm deep as moulded and is described as having 150mm of projection. Moulded rubber can vary slightly, so measure before you rely on an exact stand-off.
Do I need a back plate or front plate?
Neither is essential. A front plate can greatly extend the bumper's life on a busy door, and a back plate makes later replacement easier and quicker.
Which way up does it fit?
The usual way is upright, with the 448mm side running vertically and the two holes one above the other.
