Description
A visitor at a locked gate is only useful to you if you can speak to them without walking the yard. This wireless intercom puts a hooded, IP54 caller station at the gate or door and a portable handset with whoever answers it. The visitor presses the bell, the handset alerts, you talk, and you can release the gate from where you stand. It suits yards, warehouses, farms and long private drives, where a cable from gate to building would mean digging up the ground. Range is up to 600 metres, line of sight.
Why it works on a working site
No cable back to the building. Speech and the release signal travel by radio, so you avoid a trench across the yard. Only the gate end may need wiring, as explained below.
Handsets go where the work is. Each one lifts off its cradle and alerts by chime, vibration and flashing light, so it can be noticed in a noisy unit. You can run several on one system and speak between them.
A real hood, not just a rain rating. The caller station is IP54 on its own. The thermoplastic hood adds shelter from severe weather and from moisture creeping in from the wall.
It works with the gate you already have. Volt-free N/O and N/C outputs trigger most electric gates, barriers and door locks.
Three limits to know before you order. It is voice only, with no camera, keypad or phone app. The handset is push to talk: hold to speak, release to listen. And 600 metres is a clear-air figure, so buildings, steel and trees between the two ends will shorten it.
Where it is used
Goods-in gates at factories and warehouses, palisade yard gates, barriers, gatehouses, rear staff doors, farm entrances and long private drives. It is at its best where the person answering moves around the site.

Choosing the right kit
1 caller station + 1 handset suits one entrance answered by one person.
1 caller station + 2 handsets suits one entrance answered in two places, such as the office and the warehouse floor.
2 caller stations + 2 handsets suits front and rear gates. Two is the most a single system takes, and the handset shows which one is calling.
Colour makes no difference to how it works. Choose the caller station and hood separately: black suits dark steel and brick, silver suits galvanised posts and clad buildings.
If staff only need to talk to each other, with no gate or door to answer, the two-handset intercom set is the simpler buy.
Installation, use and care
Decide how you will power the gate end first, because the gate and lock release does not work on batteries alone. To open anything from the handset, the caller station needs a 12 to 24V DC supply, often available at an electric gate's control board. If it is not, a 12V plug-in power supply does the job where a socket is in reach. Batteries fitted as well act as a backup. Never connect mains voltage to the terminals, and have a competent electrician make the connection to any controller or lock.
Test the signal from where the handset will be used before fixing the hood. If a pier or steel post blocks the path, an external aerial on the back of it gives a more direct route. It does not boost the signal. Charge the handset fully before first use.
Frequently asked questions
Will it open my electric gate?
It triggers most electric gates and doors through its N/O or N/C output, provided the caller station has a DC supply. The gate or lock is not included. If you are unsure about your controller, call us with the make and model.
Do I need to buy anything else?
You need power at the caller station: DC from your gate controller, a 12V plug-in power supply, or 4 C batteries for speech only. None are in the box. You can add an extra handset or an external aerial at any time.
Do the units look exactly like your photos?
The shape, colours and controls are the same. The real caller station and handset carry their maker's name and badge, which our photos do not show.
