Description
Your wireless gate intercom will talk on batteries, but it will not release a gate or lock without a DC supply at the caller station. If there is no suitable supply at the gate, this 12V plug-in power supply provides one. It suits caller stations fixed by a door, on a gatehouse wall or anywhere else within reach of a socket, where you want the handset to open something as well as speak to the visitor. The output is 12V DC at up to 2A, and the cable ends in bare wires ready for the caller station's terminal screws.
Why fit one
It unlocks the release function. The volt-free N/O and N/C outputs on the caller station do not work on batteries alone. A permanent 12V supply brings them into use, which is the main reason to buy this part.
No more battery rounds. A caller station running on mains power does not depend on C batteries that need changing. On a site with several entrances, that is one less job to forget.
It works alongside batteries. You can fit both. If the plug-in supply fails, the batteries keep speech working, although the release will not work until the supply returns.
Simple connection. There is no plug to match at the far end. The two bare wires go straight into the terminal screws on the caller station.
Know the limits. This is an indoor plug-in unit that needs a standard socket, and it is not a weatherproof outdoor supply. No IP rating or cable length is published for this line. If your caller station is far from any socket, it is probably not the right answer, so call us before you order.
Where it is used
Rear staff doors and goods-in doors on warehouses and industrial units, gatehouses, site offices, workshops, and short driveways where the gate post is close to a building with a socket inside.

Choosing the right option
UK 3-pin is the one to buy for a standard UK socket. Choose European 2-pin only if the installation is on a European round-pin socket, because it will not fit a UK socket without an adaptor.
You may not need this at all. Electric gates often have a 12 to 24V DC supply on their control board, and the caller station can run from that instead. Ask your gate installer before you buy.
Order one per caller station. A system with front and rear gates needs power at each station that will release something. The handset has its own charger, so it does not need this part.
This supply is for the caller station of our 600m wireless gate intercom. If you have another make of intercom, check its voltage and current needs before ordering.
Installation, use and care
Switch off the socket, connect the two wires to the DC terminals on the caller station, checking the polarity marked on the board, then switch on. Route the cable where it will not be trapped or cut, and clip it to the wall. Keep the plug unit indoors and dry. Never connect mains voltage directly to the caller station terminals. Have a competent electrician carry out any work on fixed wiring or a gate controller.
Frequently asked questions
Will this let my handset open the gate?
It gives the caller station the DC supply the release function needs. The gate or lock must also be wired to the caller station's output, and neither the lock nor the gate controller is included.
Can I extend the cable?
No extension is sold or published for this supply. Long low-voltage runs lose voltage, so call us with the distance before you plan one.
Do I still need batteries?
No. Batteries are optional when this supply is connected. Fit them if you want speech to keep working during a power cut.
