Black Key Clamp Oval Base Flange for 26.9mm Tube, Electrophoretic, Indoor, Size A

The black oval base flange stands a slim 26.9mm tube upright on a floor or deck, screwed down neatly, for black tube rails and frames indoors. The tube pushes down into a closed socket, two grub screws lock it, and the oval plate is fixed through its two 11mm holes. It is malleable cast iron with a black electrophoretic coat, the matching foot for black tube clothes rails, display stands, room dividers and light handrails. It is for indoor use only. Why use a black oval base flange

A neat foot for black tube. The flange matches black tube and black key clamps, so a clothes rail, display or divider looks finished right down to the floor.

Fixed, not free-standing. Screwing each upright down stops rails and stands being knocked over or walked out of line in busy shops and receptions.

Strong in the right direction. The plate is longest across its two holes. Set that long side at 90° to the line of the rail for the most resistance to leaning and knocks.

Easy to move. Two screws out and the upright lifts away when the layout changes.

The electrophoretic coat is a thin, even paint layer that looks smart but does not protect the iron outdoors. Do not use this flange outside or in wet areas, where it will rust. For outdoor posts choose the galvanised 26.9mm oval base flange.

How many do you need?

One flange for every upright that stands on the floor, with two screws or anchors each. A simple clothes rail with two uprights needs two; a three-bay display with four uprights needs four.

Choosing the right size

Key clamps are sized by the tube's outside diameter. 26.9mm tube is often sold as ¾" or 20mm nominal bore. Measure across the tube: this flange will not grip 25mm or 33.7mm tube. For 33.7mm tube use the black 33.7mm oval base flange.

Fitting and care

Mark the plate with its long side at 90° to the rail line, drill and plug the floor to suit, and screw the plate down. Push the upright fully into the socket, plumb it and tighten both grub screws with a hex key. Take care not to scratch the coating; touch up chips with black paint. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Check the screws after the first week and once a year.
