The 26.9mm oval base flange stands a slim tube post up on a deck, slab or floor, fixed down with two screws or bolts. The post pushes down into a closed socket, two grub screws lock it, and the oval plate is fixed through its two 11mm holes. It suits 26.9mm outside diameter tube, the size for light rails, garden frames, display stands and canopies, and is malleable cast iron with a galvanised finish for indoor and outdoor use. Why use a 26.9mm oval base flange

A small, neat foot. The compact plate suits light rails and frames where a large base would look clumsy or trip people, such as decks, stall frames and display stands.

Fixed, not loose. Screwing each post down stops light frames being knocked over or blown about, and keeps rails straight.

No digging, no concreting. Fix straight to timber decking, paving or concrete, and lift it again when the frame moves.

Galvanised for outdoors. The zinc coating protects the iron in rain and frost, for gardens, markets and yards.

How many do you need?

One flange for every post, with two screws or anchors each. A stall frame with four corner posts needs four; a deck rail with posts at 1.5 metres along 6 metres needs five.

Choosing the right size

Key clamps are sized by the tube's outside diameter. 26.9mm tube is often sold as ¾" or 20mm nominal bore. Measure across the tube: this flange will not grip 25mm or 33.7mm tube. Larger sizes of the same flange: 42.4mm and 60.3mm. For black indoor frames: black 26.9mm oval base flange.

Fitting and care

Mark the plate with its long side at 90° to the rail line. Fix it down with M10 coach screws into timber, or anchors into concrete or paving. Push the post fully into the socket, plumb it and tighten both grub screws with a hex key. Check the fixings and screws after the first week and once a year. Touch up scratched galvanising with zinc-rich paint.
