Description
A steel reinforced rubber hose ramp with two 100mm tunnels, rated to 12 tonnes per vehicle axle. This heavy duty ramp carries two hoses or cables up to 100mm across a road or yard, each one running through its own arched tunnel under a solid rubber hump. Steel reinforcement inside the rubber keeps its shape under lorry wheels, and a hand-hold is moulded through each end so one person can carry it and lay it. The ramp is 850mm long, 300mm wide and 125mm high, weighs about 22kg and comes with two connectors fitted so ramps link side by side. The price is for one ramp.

Why this ramp works
Big tunnels for big hoses. Each arched tunnel is about 100mm wide and 100mm high, so it takes 3 and 4 inch pump and suction hoses, thick generator feeder cables and bundles of smaller leads.
Steel inside, rubber outside. The body is moulded from SBR (styrene-butadiene) rubber with steel reinforcement. The rubber grips the ground and cushions the tyres, and the steel stops the hump sagging onto the hoses under load. The supplier rates it at 12 tonnes per vehicle axle.
One person can lay it. A slot hand-hold is moulded through the flat lip at each end, so you can carry a 22kg ramp comfortably and drop it into place without help.
Seen in poor light. Each stepped face has three yellow visibility strips and two red reflectors set into it, so drivers see the ramp in headlights.
Links side by side. Two rubber dog bone connectors on one long side push into the next ramp, so you can build a crossing as wide as you need. Spare connectors are sold separately.
- SBR rubber with steel reinforcement
- 2 arched tunnels, about 100 x 100mm
- 12 tonnes per vehicle axle
- Hand-holds at both ends, 2 connectors fitted
Where it is used
Use it for over-pumping and dewatering hoses across site haul roads and entrances, for fuel and water transfer hoses in depots and yards, for fire service and utility hoses at roadworks, and for generator feeder cables across service roads at festivals, shows and film locations. It suits any crossing where heavy vehicles meet large hoses or cables.

Choosing the right ramp
Start with the size of your hose or cable and the heaviest vehicle that will cross. This ramp is the heavy duty choice for hoses up to 100mm with lorries crossing. The tunnels are open underneath, so you can lay the hoses first and set the ramp down over them, or thread them through from the side.
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| Hoses up to 100mm, lorries crossing, carried by one person | This one |
| Hoses up to 100mm, open top so you can drop them in, lighter at 16kg | Open top 2 channel ramp, 820 x 310 x 102mm |
| 2.5 inch lay-flat fire hose, open top | 2 channel hose ramp, 850 x 300 x 84mm |
| People on foot and small vehicles only | Pedestrian hose ramp, 840 x 300 x 125mm |
| A lost or broken connector | Spare dog bone connector |
How to lay it
- Choose firm, level ground. Do not let the ramp bridge holes or soft ground.
- Lay the hoses or cables flat, then set the ramp over them with one in each tunnel, or thread them through from the side.
- Carry the next ramp by its hand-holds and push it onto the connectors until the crossing is wide enough.
- Check the hoses lie flat in the tunnels and are not twisted where they come out.
- Put signs or a banksman in place so vehicles cross slowly.
Care
Hose off mud and grit after use and clear anything caught in the tunnels. Check the connectors, strips and reflectors before each job. Store the ramps flat and stacked.
Frequently asked questions
Can lorries drive over it?
Yes. The supplier rates it at 12 tonnes per vehicle axle. Keep traffic slow and make sure the ramp sits on firm ground. It is not designed for tracked vehicles.
Will a 4 inch hose fit?
The tunnels are about 100mm wide and high, so a hose up to 100mm outside diameter fits. If a coupling is larger, lay the hose first and set the ramp down over it.
Does it have a lid?
No. The ramp is solid rubber over two arched tunnels that are open underneath. Lay the hoses first and set the ramp over them, then lift it off to move or add a hose.
How many ramps do I need?
Each ramp covers 300mm along the hose. For a lorry track of about 2.5m you need 9 ramps; for a single wheel track, 3 or 4.
