Freezer doorways take a beating: forklifts and pallet trucks push through all day, and ordinary PVC goes stiff in the cold and cracks. These clear ribbed strips are made from polar grade PVC, which stays flexible down to -24°C, with raised ribs running the full length of each strip. Loads ride on the ribs instead of dragging across the whole face, so the strip resists scuffing and the view through stays clearer for longer. Every strip is cut to the length you choose and comes with a 430-grade stainless steel hook-on plate already riveted across the top, ready to hook straight onto your rail. Choose 200mm or 300mm wide, from 1 metre to 5 metres long. The price shown includes the plate and VAT.

Why ribbed polar grade strip

Stays flexible in the freezer. Polar grade PVC is made for walk-in freezers, cold stores and other sub-zero rooms, and stays flexible down to -24°C. Strips keep swinging back into place after each pass, which helps keep the cold air in.

Built for vehicle traffic. The ribs take the rubbing from pallets, cages and forklift masts, so the flat PVC between them is protected. That makes ribbed strip the usual choice where pallet trucks and forklifts move between freezer areas.

Still clear. Drivers and pedestrians can see each other through the curtain. The ribs add faint vertical lines to the view, but they do not block it.

Swap one strip at a time. Every strip has its own stainless plate, so you can lift a damaged strip off the rail and hook a new one on in seconds, without letting the whole doorway warm up. You need no tools, and the rest of the curtain stays where it is.

Which strip do I need?

These fit hook-on rails: the flat stainless rail with a row of hooks along its edge, with 41mm slot centres. That is the rail on our freezer hook-on strip curtain kit. Measure the width of an old strip and match it. If your curtain hangs on push-fit pegs or swivel hinges instead of hooks, these plates will not fit. Choosing the length

Measure an old strip from end to end, including the plate. If it is damaged, measure from the rail to just above the floor. Lengths go up in 100mm steps. For an exact length, choose the next size up, then trim the bottom of the strip with a sharp knife against a straight edge. For a length outside this range, call us for a quote.

Lift the old strip so its plate comes off the hooks on the rail. Line the new plate up with the hooks, hook it on and let it hang, overlapping the strips either side as before. Strips are delivered rolled. Unroll them and leave them flat overnight before hanging, so the slight curl at the bottom drops out. In the cold this curl takes longer to go, so flatten them in a warm room first if you can. Strip curtains do not replace safe traffic routes. Keep forklift speeds low through the curtain and keep pedestrian doorways separate from vehicle doorways where you can.

Freezers only

Polar grade PVC has extra plasticiser to keep it flexible in the cold. In warmer rooms it can feel sticky and be harder to pass through. For chilled rooms, warehouses and other doorways above 0°C, choose our standard clear ribbed hook-on strips instead.
