Description
If a heavy knock has bent the steel cradle of a sliding dock bumper, you do not have to replace the whole unit. This galvanised back plate is that cradle, sold on its own. It measures 760 x 270 x 85mm, weighs 26kg and has six fixing holes, so you can replace a damaged plate on an existing bumper, or start a new bay with the steel fixed first and add the face later.
Why this back plate works
Six holes for a secure fit. The holes run in three pairs down the plate, 325mm apart and 150mm across, so the load is spread along its full length. The first and last pairs sit 55mm from each end.
Top holes for an over-dock bracket. The top pair are larger, at 26mm, and suit M24 screws into an angle bracket above the dock, if your wall needs one. The middle and bottom pairs are 20mm.
Galvanised for an open yard. Heavy duty galvanised steel gives long-lasting performance in harsh environments such as an exposed loading bay.
A channel that holds the face. Returns along both long edges hold the face and rubber in place, and the closed lower end stops them dropping out. The top is open, so the face can be lifted out and a new one dropped in.

Fitting and care
Fit it with the closed end at the bottom. Mark out from the drawing above, then offer the plate up and check the holes against it before you drill. You will need a drill, suitable fixings and a wrench. On our complete bumper we use six M16 through-anchors of 125 to 140mm into sound concrete, and M24 bolts where the top holes go into an angle bracket. Have a competent installer confirm that the wall and fixings suit the loads at your dock.
Check the plate and fixings during routine dock inspections, and replace the plate if it is bent or the returns no longer hold the face. A dock bumper protects the building and vehicle from routine contact. It is not a vehicle restraint and does not replace wheel chocks or a banksman.

Can I use it with other dock bumpers?
It is made for our 760 x 270 x 110mm sliding bumper. It can suit another face or bumper if the size and mounting are compatible, so check those first or call us.

No, this is the steel back plate only. For everything in one order, choose the complete 760 x 270 x 110mm bumper, which includes free fixings.
Why are the top two holes larger?
They are 26mm so that M24 screws can go through into an angle bracket above the dock, if your wall needs one.
Is it heavy to fit?
At 26kg, plan for two people to hold it while you mark out and fix it.
