Description
Epoxy resin roller sleeve: the right roller for two-part floor coatings
Ordinary decorating rollers shed fibres and break down in two-part resins, and every loose fibre ends up sealed into the floor. This sleeve is made for the job. It is thermo-bonded nylon with a medium pile, built to stand up to the solvents and curing agents in epoxy and polyurethane coatings that damage standard sleeves. Choose the 12 inch for open floor and the 4 inch for edges, corners and small areas.
Flooring contractors, maintenance teams and DIY installers use it for epoxy floor paints, primers, metallic epoxy systems and polyurethane top coats in warehouses, garages, workshops, shops and homes.
Why it works
Chemical resistant, so it holds together to the end of the coat
Two-part coatings attack the glue and fibres of cheap sleeves. Thermo-bonded nylon resists that attack, so the pile stays on the sleeve and off your floor.
Medium pile lays resin at an even thickness
A medium pile holds enough material to cover well while still leaving a smooth, even film. That matters on floor coatings, where thin and thick patches show once the floor is lit.
Two sizes cover the whole floor
The 12 inch sleeve covers ground quickly across the open floor. The 4 inch sleeve gets into the places a wide roller cannot: along skirting, round columns and pipes, and on steps.
Where it's used
Use it with epoxy floor paint in garages and workshops, epoxy and polyurethane coatings in warehouses and factories, and each coat of our metallic epoxy base coat, metallic design coat and metallic top coat. The UVR top coat calls for a sleeve suitable for polyurethane resins, and this one is made for them.

Choosing the right option
Pick the size by the job, not the floor area. Most floors need both sizes: a 12 inch for the open floor and a 4 inch to cut in at the edges.
Then count your coats. A sleeve should be used for one coat only, so two coats need two sleeves of each size you use. For a metallic floor, that means one sleeve for the base coat, one for the design coat and one for each top coat.
| Job | 12" sleeves | 4" sleeves |
|---|---|---|
| One coat of floor paint | 1 | 1 |
| Two coats of floor paint | 2 | 2 |
| Metallic floor, all 3 steps with 2 top coats | 4 | 4 |
On a large floor, or with a slow coating, add a spare in case a sleeve picks up grit part-way through.
Installation, use and care
Slide the sleeve fully onto a roller frame of the matching width. Before the first coat, roll it over a strip of masking tape or pat it with your hand to lift any loose fibres. Load it from a scuttle or tray, roll in overlapping passes and cross-roll for an even finish. Do not try to clean a sleeve that has been used in two-part resin; start each coat with a fresh one.
Frequently asked questions
Does it come with a roller frame?
No, the sleeve is sold on its own. Our paint application kit covers the basic rollers, brushes and mixing tools.
Can I use it with water based coatings?
It is made for solvent-based and two-part coatings, and use with water based products is not published for this line. For a water based top coat, a standard decorating sleeve does the job.
Can I reuse it?
Use a new sleeve for each coat. Two-part resins cure in the pile, and a part-cured sleeve leaves lumps and streaks in the next coat.
How many do I need for a metallic floor?
One for each coat: base coat, design coat and two top coats, so four of each size you use.
