If you want to keep the look of bare concrete but stop it shedding dust and soaking up oil, this clear epoxy seals the floor without covering it. It also works as a tough clear topcoat over coloured epoxy floors. It suits garages, workshops, galleries, showrooms and busy commercial interiors. It is a two-part, 100% solids resin applied by roller, and each kilo covers up to 5m² per coat. Choose your pack size in the selector, then use the guides below to work out packs and primer.

Coverage Rates

Approximate coverage per coat:

• 1kg: Up to 5m²
• 2.5kg: Up to 12.5m²
• 5kg: Up to 25m²
• 10kg: Up to 50m²

For optimum protection and finish, two coats are generally recommended.

Which packs do you need?

Mix complete packs only, so allow whole packs for each coat instead of splitting one between coats. The figures above are the best case on a smooth, sealed surface. The technical consumption rate is 0.3–0.4kg per m², so plan on the right-hand column for rough or absorbent concrete. Test a small area first if you are unsure. Primer is extra.

It is an interior coating. It also suits correctly prepared screeds, wood and steel. It keeps marks and repairs visible, so choose a coloured floor paint such as our high build epoxy garage floor paint if you want an even, solid colour.

Application Guide

Surface Preparation
For the best results, surfaces should be clean, dry, and properly prepared before application. Remove any loose or flaking coatings and abrade the surface to create a suitable bonding key.

Mechanical preparation such as grinding or shot blasting is recommended where possible. Remove all dust, dirt, grease, and contaminants before coating.

Make good blow holes and defective concrete with a repair mortar first. Steel should be blasted to a nominal Sa 2.5.

Priming Recommendations

• New or sound concrete floors: Use a suitable damp-tolerant primer
• Dusty, aged, or weaker floors: Use a suitable penetrating primer
• Oil-contaminated surfaces: Clean thoroughly and use an oil-resistant primer

Keeping the concrete visible: this coating is clear, so any colour in the primer shows through. Choose a clear primer where you want to see the concrete. Our deep penetrating epoxy floor primer is clear and suits dusty or weaker floors. Our damp tolerant epoxy primer is grey, so use it only where the concrete does not need to stay visible. Over a sound coloured epoxy floor, abrade the surface and follow that coating's recoating guidance instead of priming. Ask us if you are unsure which suits your floor.

Application Process

1. Mix the components thoroughly using a suitable electric mixing paddle.
2. Apply immediately using a suitable epoxy floor roller.
3. Use a brush for edges and detailed areas.
4. Apply additional coats once the previous coat has cured sufficiently.
5. Allow full curing time before exposing the floor to heavy traffic, vehicles, or chemicals.

Mixing and timing in detail

• Mix: mix Part A for about 1 minute, add all of Part B and mix for a further 90 seconds, keeping the paddle submerged to limit air.
• Work quickly: pot life is about 20 minutes, so tip the mix into a tray or scuttle straight away. It then stays workable on the floor for up to 40 minutes.
• Next coat: re-coat after 8–12 hours at 20°C or 16–24 hours at 10°C, and within 24 hours of the previous coat being dry. Use a fresh roller sleeve for each coat.
• Back in use: keep vehicles and heavy objects off for at least 48 hours after the final coat, and water and chemicals off for 7 days.
• What you need: each pack contains the resin and activator. Primer and tools are separate, and our paint application kit has the tools for the job.

Important Information

• Recommended application temperature: Minimum 7°C
• Not self-levelling; surface preparation is essential for the best finish
• Do not split mixed units, as incorrect ratios may affect curing performance
• Not UV stable and may discolour with prolonged sunlight exposure
• Allow sufficient curing time before introducing heavy loads or chemical exposure
• Do not apply to new or wet concrete under 28 days old, or with residual moisture of 6% or higher
• Concrete needs a damp proof membrane beneath it for epoxy coatings to be applied

Frequently asked questions

Will it hide marks or repairs in my concrete?

No. The clear finish keeps the floor visible, including its natural variations and any existing repairs. Testing the full primer and coating system on a small area will show you how the finished floor will look.

Can I use it where sunlight reaches the floor?

It is best kept away from repeated direct sunlight. This epoxy is not UV stable and will discolour with prolonged exposure, including near large windows and open doors.

Can I save half a pack for the second coat?

No. Once the two parts are mixed, the whole batch has to be used straight away, and dividing the parts can upset the ratio and stop it curing properly. Allow complete packs for each coat, as in the table above.

Will it make my floor slippery?

It dries to a smooth, high-gloss finish, and no slip resistance rating is published for this coating. It can be slippery when wet or oily, so where grip matters, consider our anti-slip epoxy floor paint, which is a coloured coating.
