Description
On a 100% overlap curtain every strip covers half of each neighbour, so the doorway is two layers thick from edge to edge. Lose one strip and that double seal has a gap in it. These clear PVC strips are 400mm wide, cut to the length you choose and punched along the top edge to bolt straight into the hinges on a heavy duty swivel hinge rail set for 100% overlap. Unbolt the worn strip, bolt the new one in, and the curtain is back to full strength without taking the rail down. Choose 3mm or 4mm thick, from 1 metre up to 10 metres long. The price shown is per strip and includes VAT.
Is my rail set for 100% overlap?
Swivel hinge rails are set up for one strip width and one overlap, so the holes in a new strip have to match. For 400mm strips, measure from the centre of one swivel hinge to the centre of the next. About 200mm means 100% overlap, and these are the right strips. About 280mm means 60% overlap: choose our 400mm 60% overlap strips instead, which also suit our heavy duty loading bay curtain. 3mm or 4mm?
400mm x 3mm, medium duty. Busy doorways with pedestrians, pallet trucks and lighter vehicle traffic.
400mm x 4mm, heavy duty. Thicker, heavier strip for forklift and HGV loading bays and large openings. Match the strips already on your rail if you are only replacing a few.
Choosing the length
Measure an old strip end to end. If it is damaged or stretched, measure from the bolt holes in the hinge to just above the floor. Lengths go up in 100mm steps. For an exact length, choose the next size up, then trim the bottom of the strip with a sharp knife against a straight edge. For a length outside this range, call us for a quote.

Fitting
Undo the nuts on the hinge holding the worn strip and lift it away. Line up the punched holes in the new strip with the hinge plates, push the bolts through, and tighten the nuts and washers. Check it overlaps the strips either side as before. Strips are delivered rolled, so a slight curl at the bottom is normal and drops out in time, more slowly in the cold. Unrolling them flat overnight before fitting helps. On a high rail, work from a scissor lift or other safe platform, never from the forks of a truck. Strip curtains do not replace safe traffic routes: keep vehicle speeds low through the curtain and keep pedestrians separate from forklift doorways where you can.
Frequently asked questions
Will these fit my rail?
They fit swivel hinge rails, the round tube rail with a hinge clamp for every strip, set for 400mm strips at 100% overlap, with hinges about 200mm apart. If your hinges are further apart, call 01744 520 110 with a photo and we will check.
Do you have black or red strips for this rail?
Yes. Our 400mm black or red swivel hinge strips come punched for 100% overlap rails like this one, and bolt into the same hinges. Use red at the edges of a clear curtain to mark the doorway.
Are bolts included?
No. The strip comes punched and ready to fit, and you re-use the nuts and bolts from the strip you are replacing.
How many strips do I need?
Count the hinges on your rail: there is one strip per hinge. To replace only the damaged strips, count those and order at least 10.
Can I use them outside?
The PVC has anti-UV filters, but every strip lasts longer and stays clearer when it is fitted inside the opening, sheltered from the weather.
Can I use them in a freezer?
No. Standard clear PVC is recommended for 0°C to +40°C and stiffens below freezing. For freezer doors, call us about polar grade strips.
Why is there a minimum order?
Strips are cut and punched to order, so the minimum order is 10 strips. If you need fewer, call 01744 520 110.
