Description
A ready-built end post for yellow GRP guard rails. This 1100mm post comes assembled: a 50mm GRP tube with its base foot, a rounded elbow at the top that turns the top rail down into the post, and a tee at 550mm for the knee rail. Use it at each end of a run and on both sides of an access opening. Bolt the foot down, slide the rails in and the guard rail goes up with no fittings to set out on site. The price shown is for one.

Load tested system
The 50mm GRP tube handrail system these parts belong to has been load tested by an independent UK laboratory as a straight two-rail balustrade, 1100mm high with a mid rail at 550mm and posts at 1000mm centres. It carried 0.4 kN/m, above the 0.36 kN/m general duty load for industrial handrails in BS 4592-0.
Planning a run
Use an end post at each end and beside each opening, a corner post at every 90 degree turn, and intermediate posts at no more than 1000mm centres in between, joined with 50mm GRP tube.

Fitting
Set the posts out on the line of the rail. Mark through the base foot holes, drill and fix with anchors to suit the concrete or steel. Slide the 50mm tubes into the fittings, check the rails are level, then drill and fix each with M6 rivet nuts and bolts.
Care
Wash down with water and mild detergent. Check the bolts once a year and after any impact. GRP needs no painting.
