Description
The fixing that holds every moulded GRP handrail fitting to its tube. Each set is an M6 x 60mm stainless steel button head socket bolt and a matching stainless steel rivet nut. The bolt head and the rivet nut both sit inside the moulded recesses of the fitting, so nothing sticks out to catch a hand or snag clothing, and stainless steel will not rust in wet or corrosive plant. The price shown is for one set, with a minimum order of 10.

Load tested system
The 50mm GRP tube handrail system these parts belong to has been load tested by an independent UK laboratory as a straight two-rail balustrade, 1100mm high with a mid rail at 550mm and posts at 1000mm centres. It carried 0.4 kN/m, above the 0.36 kN/m general duty load for industrial handrails in BS 4592-0.
How many do you need?
One set for each fixing hole in each fitting. Count the holes on the fittings in your order; most tees and crosses take two or three.

Fitting
Set the fitting on the tube. On the bolt side, drill through the fitting for the M6 bolt. On the nut side, drill a 9mm hole through the fitting and the tube. Push the rivet nut into the 9mm hole so its flange sits in the recess, pass the bolt through from the other side and tighten with a hex key until the fitting grips the tube.
Care
Stainless steel needs no maintenance. Check fittings are tight once a year and after any impact.
