Description
Tools, bikes and equipment get stored in the buildings that are easiest to break into, and most of those buildings have no mains supply. This wireless shed alarm kit runs entirely on batteries, so you can protect a shed, garage or small workshop without an electrician, a cable run or a phone line. A motion sensor with its own 130dB siren watches the room, and a separate wireless siren goes wherever an intruder cannot easily reach it. You arm and disarm the whole system from a remote control, from up to 50 metres away in clear line of sight.
Why a two-siren alarm works
The second siren answers the obvious attack. A one-box battery alarm has to be in view of the room to detect anything, which also puts it in reach of the person setting it off. Here you fix the second siren somewhere else: high on a roof timber, hidden behind racking, or in a different building up to 50 metres away, including your own house if the signal reaches.
The noise builds in two stages. The sensor siren sounds first at 130dB. The second siren joins it 15 seconds later, at the moment someone may think they have dealt with the problem.
It resets itself. Each siren sounds for 60 seconds and then stays armed, so it goes off again if movement continues or someone comes back.
The delays suit a small building. You get 30 seconds to leave and lock up after arming. The entry delay is only 5 seconds, so disarm from outside before you open the door.
The sensor copes with damp. It is rated IP65, which matters in unheated buildings through a UK winter. Batteries last 12 to 18 months in normal use, and the LED stays lit when they run low.
Where it is used
It suits garden sheds, domestic garages, trade workshops, contractors' tool stores and garden offices. It also works in caravans, static and park homes, boats, holiday homes and new builds that do not yet have a permanent alarm. It works best where one sensor can see the way in.

Is this the right alarm?
| Your situation | Our advice |
|---|---|
| A shed, garage or single-room workshop with no mains | This kit is built for that job |
| You live close enough to hear it | Put the second siren in the house, then test the signal |
| The building is out of earshot | Choose a phone-alert alarm, because this kit only makes noise |
| A steel container or metal-clad unit | Keep all three parts inside and test first, because metal cuts radio range |
This is a deterrent for small buildings, not a monitored system. No insurance grading is published for it, so check first if your policy names a specific type of alarm.
Fitting and care
Fit the batteries and try the kit on a bench before you fix anything. Keep it at arm's length while you test, because 130dB is painfully loud close up. Fix the bracket with fixings to suit your wall, and aim the sensor across the path someone would take from the door. Keep it away from heaters and direct sun, since a PIR reacts to moving heat. Fix the second siren out of reach, in the dry, then walk the site with the remote to confirm that everything responds from where you will really stand.
Frequently asked questions
Will it call or text my phone?
No. This is a sirens-only alarm with no SIM, app or monitoring. It relies on the noise scaring off an intruder and on someone hearing it, so it suits buildings within earshot of you or your neighbours.
Can I fit it outdoors?
Treat it as an alarm for inside a building. The sensor's IP65 rating helps in damp sheds and garages, but outdoors it would react to far more than intruders. No weather rating is published for the second siren, so keep that dry.
What happens if someone smashes the sensor?
The maker does not state whether the second siren keeps sounding if the sensor is destroyed. That is why placement matters: fit the sensor high, so it is hard to reach quickly, and keep the second siren out of reach and out of sight.
Will pets or mice set it off?
No pet-immune setting is published. A PIR reacts to moving warm bodies, so a cat or dog in the room may trigger it. Keep animals out while it is armed, and test how it behaves with anything small in the building.
