Description
A heavy steel topped hose ramp for one large hose or cable up to 105mm across, load tested to 80 tonnes. Two solid rubber ramps carry a flat steel top plate, leaving one tunnel 200mm wide and 105mm high underneath. The hose runs straight through the tunnel, and heavy vehicles drive up the chequered rubber slope, across the steel plate and down the other side without touching it. Each unit is 800mm long, 290mm wide and 120mm high and weighs about 37.5kg. Two connectors come fitted, so units join side by side along the hose to cover any width of road. The price is for one unit.

Why this ramp works
Built for very heavy traffic. A sample was independently load tested and passed with 80 tonnes applied through a plate about 250 x 300mm. For everyday use we recommend keeping the load under 60 tonnes per ramp.
A steel deck over the hose. The steel top plate spreads the wheel load onto the two rubber blocks, so nothing presses down on the hose. The tunnel stays open and the hose keeps its full bore while vehicles cross.
Large hoses and armoured cables. The tunnel is 200mm wide and 105mm high, so it takes a 3 inch pump or dewatering hose, a large fuel or water line, or a bundle of heavy cables.
Joins up to any width. Each unit covers 290mm along the hose. The two connectors fitted on one side push into the next unit, so a row of ramps stays lined up across the road.
- One tunnel, 200mm wide x 105mm high
- Passed an 80 tonne load test, use up to 60 tonnes per ramp
- Steel top plate on solid rubber ramps
- Two connectors fitted, spares available
Where it is used
Use it on quarry and mine haul roads, building site entrances used by tippers and concrete wagons, dewatering and over-pumping jobs where a large hose crosses a working road, fuel and water lines at plant yards and depots, and temporary power runs at heavy industrial sites. It suits any crossing where a large hose has to stay in service under very heavy wheel loads.

Sizes are approximate. Rubber can shrink slightly as it cures, so allow a few millimetres either way.
Choosing the right ramp
Measure the outside diameter of your hose, including any couplings that must pass through. Up to 105mm, this ramp is the right size. For a hose up to 150mm, choose the larger steel topped ramp. If you need two smaller hoses side by side and lighter loads, a two channel rubber ramp costs less.
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| One hose up to 105mm, very heavy vehicles | This one |
| One hose up to 150mm, very heavy vehicles | Steel topped hose ramp, 820 x 290 x 165mm |
| Two hoses, up to 44 tonnes | 2 channel hose ramp, 980 x 290 x 135mm |
| A lost or broken connector | Spare dog bone connector |
How to lay it
- Choose firm, level ground so the ramp sits flat and does not rock.
- Lay the hose across the road where it will cross.
- Stand the first ramp over the hose so the hose runs straight through the tunnel.
- Push the next ramp onto the connectors of the first and repeat until the road is covered.
- Keep traffic slow over the crossing and check the ramps are still joined before each shift.
Care
Wash off mud and stone with water. Check the steel plate is seated and the connectors are whole before each use. At 37.5kg each, use two people or a lifting aid, and store the ramps flat.
Frequently asked questions
Will a 4 inch hose fit?
Usually not. 4 inch is the bore, and the outside of a 4 inch hose is often 110mm or more. Measure the outside, including couplings: up to 105mm fits this ramp, and up to 150mm fits the larger steel topped ramp.
Can lorries and dumpers drive over it?
Yes. A sample passed an 80 tonne load test, and we recommend keeping loads under 60 tonnes per ramp. Keep traffic slow over the crossing.
How many do I need?
Each ramp covers 290mm along the hose. Divide the width of the road by 0.29 and round up. A 3.5m haul road needs 13 ramps.
Are the connectors included?
Yes, two connectors come fitted to each ramp. Spare connectors are sold separately if one is lost or damaged.
