A 120mm sliding gate wheel with a 20mm round groove, rated to 700kg. It is a grooved steel wheel on a sealed ball bearing, supplied with its axle bolt and nuts, in bright zinc-plated steel. The axle bolt passes through the side of a channel or bracket under the gate's bottom rail, so the wheel runs directly on the ground track. The groove runs on a ground track of 20mm round bar. The price is for one wheel; most sliding gates run on two.

Choosing the right wheel

Match the groove to your track first, then pick the fixing that suits the bottom rail, then check the rating. Most gates use two wheels, set about a fifth of the gate length in from each end.

Fitting and care

Fix the track first, dead level and straight. Then fit the wheel: the axle bolt passes through the side of a channel or bracket under the gate's bottom rail, so the wheel runs directly on the ground track. Check the gate rolls its full travel without binding before final tightening or welding. Keep the track clear of stones and leaves; grit in the groove is what wears wheels out. Painting over the plating after fitting adds extra protection.
