Description
The 33.7mm short tee builds neat, light handrails and fences from tube, with no welding. It joins a vertical post to a horizontal rail at 90°. The rail slides straight through the top barrel, the post pushes up into the socket underneath, and two grub screws lock both tubes in place. It suits 33.7mm outside diameter tube, a comfortable size to grip as a handrail and light enough for garden, school and allotment rails. It is malleable cast iron with a galvanised finish for outdoor use. The price shown is for one fitting, with a minimum order of 10.

Why use 33.7mm key clamps
Easy to grip. 33.7mm tube sits comfortably in the hand, so it suits handrails beside paths and steps where people hold on, not just lean.
Light and neat. At about 0.3 kg per fitting, it keeps a rail slim and tidy where 48.3mm scaffold-size fittings would look heavy.
No hot work. Everything goes together with a hex key: cut the tube, push it in, tighten two screws. There is no welding, no fumes and no damaged galvanising.
Adjustable and reusable. Set each post plumb and the rail level before you lock it, and change the layout later by loosening the screws.
Where it is used
Handrails beside level paths and landings, school and nursery rails, allotment and garden fences, cycle stand frames, light barriers in car parks, stable and paddock rails, and shop and workshop frames.

| 6 metres | 5 | 3 |

End posts on a single rail take a 90° elbow instead of a short tee.
Choosing the right size
Key clamps are sized by the tube's outside diameter. 33.7mm tube is often sold as 1" or 25mm nominal bore. Measure across the tube before ordering: this tee will not grip 32mm or 42.4mm tube. Other sizes of the same short tee:
- 26.9mm short tee for light frames
- 42.4mm short tee for guardrails
- 48.3mm short tee for scaffold-size tube
- 60.3mm short tee for heavy-duty barriers
Tubes cannot be joined inside the top barrel. Where a rail joint falls over a post, use the long tee instead.
Fitting and care
Cut tube ends square and deburr them so the tube slides fully home. Push the post up into the socket, pass the rail through the barrel, set the post plumb and the rail level, then tighten each grub screw firmly with a 1/4" hex key. Check the screws after the first week and once a year after that. Touch up scratched galvanising with zinc-rich paint. Spare 33.7mm setscrews are sold separately.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one fitting?
Yes. The price is for one short tee with both grub screws fitted. The minimum order is 10. For larger quantities, call us for a price.
Is 33.7mm strong enough for a guard rail?
It suits handrails and light rails. For guard rails at drops, roof edges or where vehicles pass, use 42.4mm or 48.3mm tube and fittings.
Can I use it on a stair handrail?
Only where the rail is level, such as a landing. The socket is fixed at 90°. Sloping rails need adjustable or sloping fittings.
Will it fit 32mm tube?
No. It is made for 33.7mm outside diameter and will be loose on 32mm tube. Measure before ordering.
