Description
A classic S scroll bent from 12 x 6mm flat bar, 120mm wide and 245mm high, with a tight coil at each end. It is the most popular way to fill the gap between the bars of a gate or railing, and pairs of scrolls welded back to back either side of a bar make the traditional mirrored pattern. It comes in raw steel, ready to weld, then paint or galvanise with the rest of the job. The price shown is for one scroll, with a minimum order of 15.

Why choose this scroll
Ready formed. Each scroll is bent to the same shape, so a row of them lines up neatly without you having to bend and match your own.
A useful size. At 245mm high and 120mm wide it fills the space under a gate or railing top rail, and two back to back fit a bay of about 240mm.

Fitting and finishing
Lay the gate or panel flat and set the scrolls out before welding so the spacing is even. Hold each one with a clamp and tack weld where the curls touch the bars and rails, then check the line and weld fully. For the mirrored look, set two scrolls back to back on either side of a bar so their coils face each other.
Raw steel will rust outdoors. Clean off mill scale, prime with a zinc-rich primer and top coat with a metal paint, or have the finished gate or railing hot-dip galvanised or powder coated.

Is the price for one scroll?
Yes, one S scroll. The minimum order is 15 scrolls. For mirrored pairs order two per bay. For a large run of railings, call us for a quantity price.
How many do I need?
Measure the gaps between your bars. One scroll fills a gap of about 120mm; two back to back fill about 240mm. Count the gaps and multiply.
Can the scroll be adjusted?
Yes. Mild steel flat bar can be opened or closed slightly by hand with a scroll wrench to suit your spacing, or trimmed at the ends.
Does it come painted?
No, it is raw steel so it can be welded cleanly. Paint, powder coat or galvanise it once fitted.
Can it be galvanised?
Yes. It is mild steel and can be hot-dip galvanised with the finished gate or railing.
