Description

A pull-out barrier that closes off up to about 3.6 metres in seconds, then folds away on its own wheels. This yellow concertina barrier is for the jobs that need an area shut off now and opened again later: a spill in a warehouse aisle, a forklift working in a yard, a cleaning crew in a corridor, a doorway under repair. Wheel it to the spot folded up, undo the straps and pull one end post out. The hinged panels open out behind it to about 3600mm and stand about 1000mm high, with a warning triangle on every panel. When the job is done, push it closed, strap it and wheel it back to the store room. The price is for one barrier.

Dimension drawing of the yellow expanding concertina barrier: approximately 3600mm long open, 1000mm high, folding to about 590 x 400mm, with wheels on one end post

Why this barrier works

Out and back in under a minute. There is nothing to assemble and nothing to fix down. The panels are hinged to each other and to both end posts, so the whole barrier opens and closes as one piece.

Wheels on one end. One end post has wheels at the foot. Tip the folded barrier slightly and roll it to where it is needed, then stand it upright and it sits on its feet.

Stands by itself. Each end post has a wide flared foot, so the barrier is free-standing at full length or part open. It can run straight or in a curve to wrap round a hazard.

Clear warning on every panel. Bright yellow plastic with a black warning triangle moulded on each panel. The panels are open between diagonal slats, so people can still see through to what is behind.

Folds small for storage. Closed, it is about 1000 x 590 x 400mm. Buckle straps on the end posts hold the folded panels together so it does not spring open in the van or the cupboard.

Where it is used

Warehouses and distribution centres, to close an aisle or a loading bay. Factories, around a machine under maintenance. Yards and car parks, to keep people away from a reversing area. Shops, offices, schools, hospitals and leisure centres, around wet floors, spills, lift work or a ceiling repair. Facilities and cleaning teams keep one on hand for jobs that move around a site.

Care

Wipe it down with warm soapy water to keep the yellow bright. Check the hinges and straps now and then, and keep the wheels clear of grit. Store it folded and strapped, standing upright. As a free-standing barrier it is not made to stop vehicles or hold back crowds.

Frequently asked questions

Is the price for one barrier?

Yes. The price is for one complete barrier with both end posts and all the panels. Set the quantity to the number you need.

Can it be used outside?

It can stand on firm, level ground outdoors, such as a yard or car park. It is free-standing and not fixed down, so keep an eye on it in strong wind on an exposed site.

Can I open it part way?

Yes. Pull it out only as far as you need. It stands on both end posts at any length between closed and fully open.

Will it stop a vehicle?

No. It is a lightweight plastic warning barrier that tells people to keep out. To stop vehicles, use bollards or fixed steel barriers.

Can two be joined together?

A linking method is not published for this barrier. You can stand two end to end to close a wider gap, with the end posts side by side.
