Description
A small C scroll in 12 x 6mm plain flat bar, 115mm wide and 60mm high. The bar runs straight across the top, rounds down at each side and finishes in a tight curl turned inwards, each with a pointed tip, leaving a gap in the middle. The flat top is what sets it apart: it sits flush against a rail, so it is made for the decorative band near the top or bottom of a gate or railing, one scroll in each gap between the vertical bars. It is also used along a top rail as a cresting, and on furniture, fire screens and headboards. It comes in raw mild steel, ready to weld, then paint, powder coat or galvanise. The price shown is for one scroll, with a minimum order of 10.

Why this scroll works
A flat top that sits flush. The straight top lies along a rail for its whole length, so it welds cleanly and looks deliberate rather than perched.
Sized for a bay. At 115mm wide it fills a 115mm gap between vertical bars, so one scroll per gap makes a neat repeating band; with 12mm bars that means bars at 127mm centres.
Two feet as well as a top. The two curls sit on the lower rail, so in a band it touches both rails and is held at three points.
Pointed tips. The tapered ends of the curls give a finished, forged look once painted.

Fitting and finishing
Set out the band, drop a scroll into each gap and check they all sit square and the same way up. Tack each one at the top and at both curls, recheck, then weld fully.
Raw steel will rust outdoors. Clean off the mill scale, prime with a zinc-rich primer, working it into the curls, and top coat with a metal paint, or have the finished work hot-dip galvanised or powder coated.

Yes, the price is for one scroll and the minimum order is 10. For a full band of scrolls, call us for a quantity price.
Is it a structural part?
No. It is a decorative scroll. It adds detail and some stiffness between rails, but the gate or railing frame must carry the load.
Which way up does it go?
In a band the flat top usually goes to the upper rail with the curls below, but it looks just as good turned over with the curls on top.
Does it come painted?
No, it is raw steel so it welds cleanly. Paint, powder coat or galvanise it once it is fitted.
