A heavy-duty PVC strip curtain built for farm buildings: cattle sheds, dairy units, machinery sheds, grain stores and poultry houses. Thick 400mm x 4mm strips hang from galvanised swivel hinges on a galvanised steel tube rail, so they swing aside for livestock, tractors and loaders and fall straight back to keep out wind, rain, birds and dust. Choose standard clear PVC to see straight through, or solid black PVC for a blackout barrier or a poultry catching curtain. Choose from 13 widths, 2920mm to 6280mm, 6 heights, 3000mm to 5000mm, and 3 bracket types. Every size is priced in full inc VAT, and clear or black costs the same.

Why it suits farm doors

Swivel hinges take the knocks. Each strip is bolted into its own galvanised hinge, so when a tractor, loader or cow pushes through, the strip swings on the hinge instead of tearing at the hanging point. That is why this system outlasts hook-on rails on busy farm doors.

Weather stays outside. Strips overlap by 120mm each side (sold as 60% overlap), so driving rain, wind and draughts are held back while the doorway stays open for work.

Birds and pests kept out. A closed curtain stops birds and much of the dust and debris getting into feed stores, grain stores and parlours.

Galvanised throughout. The rail is 1 inch galvanised steel tube with galvanised hinge shells, made to resist the corrosion of a farm yard.

Choosing your size and bracket

Width. Measure between the inside edges of the opening and choose the next width up, so the outer strips cover the frame. All sizes are nominal.

Height. Measure from where the rail will sit to the ground. Between two heights? Go up one and trim the strips with a sharp knife to finish just above the floor.

Bracket. R1 face fix goes on the wall above the opening and suits most buildings. R2 soffit fix goes under the lintel and takes about 40mm off the doorway height. R3 stand-off fixes behind the lintel for the most clearance.

Fitting and care

The rail arrives assembled. Fix the brackets to a structurally sound beam, wall or lintel across the full width with bolts to suit your building, then hang the rail. Slot each pre-punched strip into its hinge and bolt it with the M8 nuts and bolts supplied. Strips travel rolled: lay them flat overnight in a warm room before hanging and any curl drops out. Where you can, fit the curtain inside or behind the doorway so it has some shelter from the worst weather, which gives the PVC a longer life. Hose or wipe clean.
