Description
This is the fitting that turns a light 33.7mm tube rail round a corner. The three way top rail corner joins the two top rails and the corner post at 90° in one closed fitting. Each tube pushes into its own socket and is locked by its own grub screw, so there is no welding, threading or drilling and no open tube ends at the corner. It suits 33.7mm outside diameter tube, the usual size for light handrails, deck and garden rails, and is malleable cast iron with a galvanised finish for indoor and outdoor use. The price shown is for one fitting, with a minimum order of 5.
Why use a three way top rail corner
A clean, closed corner. Both rails and the post end inside the fitting, so the top of the corner is smooth and rounded, with no open tube ends to catch hands or clothes.
Square corners every time. The sockets are cast at fixed right angles, so the rails meet square without measuring angles on site.
No hot work. Everything goes together with a hex key. Decks, gardens and finished buildings need no welding, and the galvanising stays intact.
Galvanised for outdoors. The zinc coating protects the iron in rain and frost, for decks, steps, paths and gardens.

How many do you need?
One for every 90° corner, on top of the corner post. Each corner on a two-rail barrier also needs a mid rail corner lower down.

Choosing the right size
Key clamps are sized by the tube's outside diameter. 33.7mm tube is often sold as 1" or 25mm nominal bore. Measure across the tube: this corner will not grip 32mm or 42.4mm tube. All three tubes must be the same size. The same corner is made for 26.9mm, 42.4mm, 48.3mm and 60.3mm tube, and in yellow for 33.7mm.
Fitting and care
Cut the tubes square and deburr the ends. Push the corner post fully into the bottom socket and each rail fully into its socket, check the rails are level and square, then tighten all three grub screws firmly with a 1/4" hex key. Check them after the first week and once a year after that. Touch up scratched galvanising with zinc-rich paint.

Is the price for one fitting?
Yes. The price is for one corner with all three grub screws fitted. The minimum order is 5.
Can a rail pass through the corner?
No. All three sockets are closed. Where a mid rail turns the corner lower down the post, use the mid rail corner, which lets the post pass through.
Can the corner be other than 90°?
No. For other angles, use swivel fittings.
Is a load rating published?
No load rating is published for this fitting. For a rail that must meet a set load, ask a structural engineer to check the design.
