Description
In a kitchen or food room, a scuffed or split strip is more than a draught: it is a surface that unwrapped food, trays and hands brush past every day. These clear strips are made from food grade PVC that complies with the EC food contact regulations, cut to the length you choose and drilled with the hanging holes for an aluminium twin track fixing plate. Undo the nuts, swap the worn strip for a new one, clamp the plate back down, and the doorway is sealed again. 200mm x 2mm, from 1 metre up to 3 metres long in 100mm steps. The price shown is per strip and includes VAT.
Is my rail twin track?
A twin track rail is a slim aluminium extrusion with two parallel grooves along its face, fixed above the opening on L-shaped brackets. Each strip is clamped under its own flat aluminium fixing plate, held by bolts that slide in the grooves. If your strips hang from hooks on a flat stainless rail, see our hook-on food grade strips, which come with the plate fitted.
Will these fit?
These are 200mm wide and 2mm thick, the light duty size for doorways up to 3m high. On our strips, a 200mm strip takes 2 bolts across its fixing plate, so count the bolts on an old strip and measure its width. If your strips are 300mm wide or 3mm thick, our twin track clear strips come in those sizes, in standard clear PVC. Not sure? Why food grade strip
Made for food contact. The PVC complies with EC Regulations 1935/2004, 2023/2006 and 10/2011 on materials in contact with food. That gives extra peace of mind where raw or unpackaged food may touch the strips.
Fully see-through. Staff can see who is coming the other way with a tray or trolley.
Hard wearing. Flexible and impact resistant, so the strips part around people and trolleys and fall back into place.
Choosing the length
Measure an old strip end to end. If it is damaged or stretched, measure from the top edge under the fixing plate to just above the floor. Lengths go up in 100mm steps. For an exact length, choose the next size up, then trim the bottom of the strip with a clean sharp knife against a straight edge.

Fitting and hygiene
Loosen the nuts on the fixing plate holding the worn strip, slide the strip off the bolts and lift the plate away. Push the holes in the new strip over the bolts, put the plate back over the top edge, and tighten the nuts evenly so the strip is clamped flat. Check it overlaps the strips either side as before. Strips are delivered rolled, so a slight curl at the bottom is normal and drops out in time. Unrolling them flat overnight before fitting helps. Work from a safe step, keep tools and packaging away from open food, and clean new strips before use with warm water and a mild detergent, as you would any food room surface.
Safety. Keep trolley and pallet truck speeds low through any strip curtain, and replace strips that are split, scratched or cloudy so people can see each other through it.
Frequently asked questions
Are the fixing plates included?
No. The strips come cut and drilled, and you re-use the plate, nuts and bolts from the strip you are replacing. If you need new plates, call 01744 520 110.
Can I use them in a chiller or freezer?
They are rated from 0°C to +40°C, so they suit chillers and cold rooms that stay above freezing. For sub-zero freezers, choose our twin track freezer strips in polar grade PVC.
Can I mix them with my existing clear strips?
Yes, if the width and thickness match, they clamp onto the same rail. For a food room, we recommend changing the whole curtain to food grade strips over time.
How should I clean them?
Wipe both sides with warm water and a mild detergent, then rinse and let them drip dry. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, which cloud the PVC.
Why is there a minimum order?
Strips are cut and drilled to order, so the minimum order is 10 strips. If you need fewer, call 01744 520 110.
