Description
The tee that lets a GRP handrail turn any angle at a post. This moulded yellow GRP fitting joins a top rail to a post like a short tee, but the rail half swivels round the post half, so each rail can leave the post at whatever angle the job needs. Use it to run a guard rail round a circular tank or curved platform edge in straight lengths, or as the hinge on a GRP handrail gate. It never rusts, needs no painting and is fixed cold with M6 rivet nuts and bolts, sold separately. The price shown is for one.

Load tested system
The 50mm GRP tube handrail system these parts belong to has been load tested by an independent UK laboratory as a straight two-rail balustrade, 1100mm high with a mid rail at 550mm and posts at 1000mm centres. It carried 0.4 kN/m, above the 0.36 kN/m general duty load for industrial handrails in BS 4592-0.
Undrilled or pre-drilled?
This fitting is supplied undrilled so you can set the angle on site before drilling. A pre-drilled swivel short tee with M6 bolts is also available.

Fitting
Fix the post bases first. Slide the post half over the top of the post and the rail half onto the end of the rail, then turn the rail to the angle you need. Drill through the fitting and tube at each fixing point, fit the M6 rivet nuts and bolts so the heads sit in the moulded recesses, and tighten. For a gate hinge, fix each half to its own tube and leave the swivel free.
Care
Wash down with water and mild detergent. Check the bolts once a year and after any impact. GRP needs no painting.

Is the price for one fitting?
Yes, one two-part swivel short tee. The M6 rivet nuts and bolts are sold separately.
Will it fit steel scaffold tube?
No. It is sized for 50mm GRP handrail tube. Steel 48.3mm tube needs key clamp fittings.
Can it go round a circle?
Yes. Run straight rail lengths between posts and set each swivel tee to the angle of the next length.
