Description
Polar grade clear PVC strips for QuickMount peg rails, made for freezers and cold stores that run below zero. Standard PVC stiffens and cracks in the cold. Polar grade has extra plasticiser, so it stays flexible down to -24°C and keeps sealing the doorway. Each strip is cut to the length you choose and punched ready to push on. It is priced on its own, inc VAT, so you can replace one cracked strip or re-hang a whole curtain without a calculator.
Is polar grade right for my door?

Do not use polar grade above zero. The extra plasticiser makes it feel slightly tacky in warm air, so the strips cling together and are harder to walk through. Polar grade also has a faint blue tint, which helps tell it apart from standard clear at a glance; the view through is still clear.

Choosing the length
Measure an old strip end to end, or from the top of the rail to just above the floor. Lengths run from 1000mm in 100mm steps, up to 3000mm for 200mm strips and 5000mm for 300mm strips. Between two lengths? Go up one and trim with a sharp knife against a straight edge. For an exact length or a large order, call us for a quote.
Why it matters in a freezer
Less cold lost. Every time the freezer door opens, cold air spills out and warm, damp air rolls in. A full strip curtain cuts that exchange, so the evaporator works less and ices up less.
Strips that stay soft. A cracked or stiff strip leaves a gap and can split further each time a trolley hits it. Polar grade bends rather than breaks at freezer temperatures.
Quick to swap. The strips push onto the pegs and pull off again, so a damaged strip is replaced in a minute without tools or taking the rail down. There are no metal plates on the strips.

Fitting and care
Lift the old strip off the pegs, line up the slots on the new strip with the pegs and push it on, overlapping the strips either side as before. Strips travel rolled and may curl at the bottom at first; the curl takes longer to drop out in the cold, so unroll them flat overnight in a warm room before hanging if you can. Clean with warm soapy water and dry before returning them to the freezer.
Frequently asked questions
Will these fit my rail?
They fit QuickMount push-fit peg rails, the plastic rail with a row of short downward pegs. Hook-on rails need hook-on polar strips with plates; swivel hinge and twin track rails take their own strips.
Can I use them in a chiller at +3°C?
We do not recommend it. Above zero polar grade feels tacky and the strips cling. Use standard clear QuickMount strips instead.
Can I mix polar and standard strips on one rail?
They hang on the same pegs, but use one grade across the whole curtain so every strip behaves the same at the door's temperature.
Do you sell a complete freezer curtain?

Is there a minimum order?
We suggest 10 strips, the usual number for a doorway, and the basket will offer it. You can still order fewer.
