Description
A blackout curtain only works while every strip is there. Once one splits or goes missing, people can see straight through the gap. These opaque solid black and solid red PVC strips are cut to the length you choose and come with a 430-grade stainless steel hook-on plate already riveted across the top, ready to hook straight onto your rail. Lift the damaged strip off, hook the new one on, and the screen is whole again. You don't need to take the curtain down. Choose 200mm, 300mm or 400mm wide, from 1 metre to 10 metres long. The price shown includes the plate and VAT.
Why solid colour strip
Blocks the view. Solid colour PVC is opaque, so nobody can see through it. That makes it the usual choice for abattoir and meat processing screening, secure stock areas, and anywhere processes or goods need to be out of sight.
Red marks the way. Solid red strips are used to mark a restricted zone, or hung at the outer edges of a clear curtain so people can see where the doorway starts and ends.
Still easy to walk through. The strips part as people and careful trolley traffic pass, then fall back into place.
Swap one strip at a time. Every strip has its own stainless plate, so a damaged strip lifts off the rail and a new one hooks on in seconds. No tools, and the rest of the curtain stays where it is.
Which strip do I need?
These fit hook-on rails: the flat stainless rail with a row of hooks along its edge, with 41mm slot centres. That is the rail on our abattoir blackout strip curtain kit. Measure the width of an old strip and match it. If your curtain hangs on push-fit pegs instead of hooks, it is a QuickMount curtain and these plates will not fit. Choosing the length
Measure an old strip from end to end, including the plate. If the old strip is damaged, measure from the rail to just above the floor instead. For an exact length, choose the next size up and trim the bottom of the strip cleanly with a sharp knife against a straight edge. For a length outside these steps or this range, call us and we will give you a quote.

Fitting
Lift the old strip so that its plate comes off the hooks on the rail. Line the new plate up with the hooks, hook it on and let it hang so it overlaps the strips on either side, as before. Strips are delivered rolled, so before you hang them, unroll them and leave them flat overnight. That lets the slight curl at the bottom drop out. Because the strips are opaque, people cannot see who is coming the other way. Keep traffic through blackout curtains to walking speed and careful trolley use, and do not use them on routes shared with forklifts.
Frequently asked questions
Can I see through solid colour strips?
No. They are opaque. If people need to see through the doorway, choose our clear hook-on replacement strips or transparent colour strips.
Can I mix red strips into a clear curtain?
Yes, if the red strip is the same width and thickness as your clear strips and hangs on the same hook-on rail. A red strip at each edge shows people where the doorway starts and ends.
Do you do white?
Not in this replacement range, which is black or red. Call 01744 520 110 and we will check what we can supply.
Can I use these in a cold store or freezer?
They are rated from 0°C to +40°C. In freezers, standard PVC stiffens and can crack, so call us for freezer grade strip.
Is the plate included?
Yes. Every strip comes with its stainless steel plate fitted, and the price shown includes the plate and VAT.
Why is there a minimum order?
Strips are cut and plated to order, so the minimum order is 10 strips. If you need fewer, call 01744 520 110.
