Description
No welder on site? This post arrives with its base plate already welded on. It is a 1100mm length of 42.4mm x 2.0mm satin 304 stainless tube, welded to a 120mm cast base plate with three slotted fixing holes, so you only need to bolt it to the floor and fit your rails. The price shown is for one post, so order one per post position. Fixings, end cap and rails are not included.
Why choose this post
Welded for you. The weld between tube and plate is done before it reaches you, so there is no site welding, no heat tint to clean on site and no fire permit to arrange. Bolt it down and carry on.
Slotted holes for setting out. The three fixing holes in the 120mm plate are slotted, which gives a little room to turn the post to meet anchors that are slightly out.
304 grade, for indoor and sheltered rails. 304 stainless copes well with everyday moisture and cleaning, so it suits warehouses, mezzanines, offices, schools and shops. Salt is its weak point: near the sea, round pools or where road salt is spread, choose a 316 post.
Standard 42.4mm tube. 42.4mm x 2.0mm is the common size for stainless handrail and guard rail, so standard 42.4mm fittings, end caps and rail connectors suit it.
Plain, so you choose the fittings. The post has no holes or brackets. Add your own rail connectors, clamps or saddles at the heights you need, and cut the tube down if you need it shorter.
No load rating is published for this post. Where a rail or balustrade must meet a set loading, the posts, spacing, fixings and floor need checking by whoever signs off the design.

Use it for guard rails along warehouse and factory mezzanine edges, landing and atrium edges in offices and schools, ramps and walkways indoors, and any 42.4mm stainless rail where you would rather not weld on site.

Fitting and care
Set out the post positions, stand each post in place and mark through the middle of each slot, which leaves adjustment either way. Drill for M10 A2 stainless anchors suited to your floor, then bolt the post down and check it is plumb both ways. Pack non-shrink grout under the plate if the floor is not flat.
If you want a cover plate to hide the bolts, thread it down the tube before any rail or cap goes on, and check its inside height against the plate and bolt heads first. Clean the satin tube with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, wiping along the grain, and avoid chlorine bleach and wire wool.

Is the price for one post?
Yes, one post with its plate welded on, so set the quantity to your number of posts.
Is an end cap included?
No. The top is open, so add a 42.4mm end cap or a rail fitting to close it.
Can I cut it shorter?
Yes. Cut the tube square with a stainless-only blade or disc and deburr it. The 1100mm height is overall, from the underside of the plate to the top of the tube.
Can I use it outdoors?
Under cover and away from salt, yes. Near the sea, round pools or where road salt is spread, 304 can tea-stain and pit, so choose a 316 post.
Are fixings included?
No. You need three M10 anchors suited to your floor, and A2 stainless is the natural match for a 304 post.
