Description
An adjustable gate hinge that bolts on at both ends, with no welding at all. A square 80mm zinc plate fixes to the post or pier with four bolts, and an oval 114 x 39mm back plate fixes to the gate with two. An M16 eye bolt screws through the square plate's threaded boss and is pinned into the bracket on the back plate, so you can turn it to move the gate in or out and lock it with the nut. Rated for gates up to 300kg on two hinges. The price is for one complete hinge.
Why choose this hinge
No welding. Both plates bolt or screw on, so it suits timber gates, brick and rendered piers, concrete and timber posts as well as steel, and you can fit it with ordinary tools.
Adjust after hanging. Turn the eye bolt in its threaded boss to bring the gate in or out and level it, then lock the nut. No re-drilling when the gate drops.
Spreads the load. Six fixing points across two broad plates hold firmly in softer materials where a single bolt would pull out.
Rated for 300kg. Two hinges carry garden, side and single driveway gates.

Fitting
Use two hinges per gate leaf, one near the top and one near the bottom. Fix the square plates to the post in a vertical line with four M10 bolts, anchors or coach screws each, to suit the post. Screw the eye bolts into the plates with the nuts loose. Pin each bolt eye into the bracket on its back plate, stand the gate on packers in position and fix the back plates to the gate stile with two bolts or screws each. Take the packers out, turn the bolts until the gate hangs level with an even gap, then tighten the nuts.
Care
Grease the pin and thread once a year and check all fixings each spring.

Is the price for one hinge?
Yes, one complete hinge with both plates. Most gate leaves need two.
Do I need to weld anything?
No. Both plates bolt or screw on. If your gate is steel you can weld the back plate instead if you prefer.
What fixings do I need?
Six M10 bolts, anchors or coach screws per hinge, suited to your post and gate. They are not included.
Is it left or right handed?
Neither. It works on either side.
Will it carry a 300kg gate on its own?
No. The 300kg rating is for a gate hung on a pair of hinges, fixed into sound material.
