Description
When a vehicle only has to clip a glass frontage, a meter cabinet or a building corner once to cost you thousands, a clear physical stop is worth having. This brushed stainless steel bollard stands 1 metre high and 140mm across, on a 220mm welded base plate that bolts straight down to the ground. There is no excavation and no concrete to pour, so it suits finished surfaces where digging a footing would be disruptive. It is a good match for commercial entrances, yards, warehouses and car parks where you want vehicles kept back without the look of painted yellow steel.
Why this bollard works
A wide, clear presence. At 140mm across, the tube is broad enough for a driver to judge from a distance and stout enough to read as a proper barrier, not a marker post. At 1 metre high it stays in view over a bonnet and in most mirrors.
Fits to a finished surface. The 220mm plate is welded to the bottom of the tube and has four 20mm holes. You bolt it down to a sound surface, so you can add protection to an existing site in a short visit and move it later if the layout changes.
A finish that suits the building. The tube is brushed stainless steel with a closed, flat top. There is no paint to chip or repaint after a scuff, which is why stainless is often chosen for shop fronts, offices and other places on show.
Plain by design. There are no reflective bands, no chain eyelet and no lock. It is a fixed post: once bolted down it stays there until someone removes the fixings.
Two limits to plan around. No impact or crash rating is published for this line, so treat it as a deterrent and a guard against everyday knocks, not a rated hostile vehicle barrier. Bare stainless steel also has less contrast than a yellow post, so in poor light, or where people with impaired vision pass by, consider adding reflective bands or choosing a coloured bollard.
Where it is used
You will see bollards like this along glazed entrances and shop fronts, beside loading bay doors, guarding building columns and corners, in front of meter cabinets and pipework, at the edge of pedestrian routes and around car park islands. They also work indoors on a warehouse or factory floor where forklifts pass close to something worth protecting.

Choosing the right bollard
This listing is one size, so the main question is whether it is the right type for your site. If you need a different diameter, or want to set the post into the ground, look at the wider range below.
| Your situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| A wide stainless post that bolts down at 1 metre high | This bollard |
| A different stainless diameter, or a concrete-in fixing | Plain round stainless bollard range |
| An architectural angled top in stainless steel | Stainless mitre top bollard |
| High visibility in a yard or warehouse | Yellow steel bollard, 114 x 1000mm |
| A post you can lower so a vehicle can pass | 76mm fold-down parking post |
If people on foot, pushchairs or wheelchairs need to pass between posts, leave a clear gap of at least 1.2 metres and check your site's own access rules. Measure from the edge of each base plate, since the plate is wider than the tube.
Fitting and care
Fixings are not included, because the right one depends on your surface. You need four per bollard: 10mm fixings are the usual choice for concrete and 12mm for tarmac. The plate's holes are 20mm, so use a large flat washer under each nut or bolt head to bridge the hole. Stand the bollard in position, mark through the holes, drill to the size your fixing maker specifies, and tighten down evenly. Have a competent person confirm the ground is sound enough to hold them. To care for it, wipe the steel down with water and a mild detergent, rub in the direction of the brushing, and check the fixings during routine site inspections.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one bollard?
Yes, the price is for one bollard without fixings. For a row, add the quantity you need at the top of the page.
Will it stop a vehicle?
It is a strong visual and physical deterrent and will guard against everyday low-speed knocks. No impact rating is published for this line, so do not use it where a crash-rated or hostile vehicle product is required.
Can I fit it to tarmac or block paving?
Tarmac can take suitable 12mm tarmac fixings if it is deep and firm enough. Block paving is only as firm as what sits beneath it, so we would rather talk that through with you before you order.
Is it grade 304 or 316 stainless steel?
The grade is not published for this line. If your site is coastal or your specification names a grade, call us before you order so we can check it for you.
