Description
A low, bolt-down steel bollard for protecting racking, corners and doorways
This 89 x 600 mm steel bollard is for warehouse, factory and site managers who need a solid marker and guard at low level, where a tall post would get in the way or simply is not needed. It is steel with an extra yellow powder coat over galvanising, and it is supplied complete with a moulded rubber cap carrying a band of highly reflective tape. At 11 kg it is a substantial piece of steel but still a one-person lift. A square base plate with four fixing holes lets you bolt it straight down to a concrete floor, with no digging or setting in.
Why it works
Steel with two layers of finish
The yellow powder coat, in RAL1028, goes on over a galvanised finish. The bright colour does the job of being seen, and the galvanising underneath gives the steel a second layer of protection if the coat gets chipped in day-to-day use.
Rubber cap with a reflective band
The moulded rubber cap closes off the top of the post, and its band of highly reflective tape picks up headlights and forklift lights in dim aisles and after dark. The cap comes fitted as part of the bollard, so there is nothing extra to buy. If one is damaged later, a spare 89 mm bollard head is available.
Bolt-down base plate
The post is welded to a flat square plate with a hole at each corner. Because it sits on the surface, you can position it exactly where it is needed, and you can move it by unbolting it if your layout changes.

- Bolt-down base plate taking four M16 through bolts

Where it's used
Typical positions are pallet racking ends, forklift routes, the corners of walls and doorways in warehouses and factories, and the ends of parking bays or building corners in commercial car parks. Its low height suits places where you need to mark and guard an edge without blocking the view across it.

Choosing the right option
Height is the main decision. At 600 mm this is the low version, about knee height, and it works best guarding something that sits close to the floor, such as a racking foot, or marking an edge where drivers can already see the area around it. If the bollard needs to be seen over parked vehicles, stacked goods or from a forklift seat, go taller with our 89 x 1000 mm steel bollard, which has the same diameter and the same style of cap.
Think about your floor as well. This bollard is made to be bolted down, so it needs a sound floor that can take the fixings. If you need something that flexes on impact rather than standing firm, take a look at the flexible bollards in our range.
Installation, use and care
Stand the bollard in position, mark the four holes and fix it down with four M16 x 125 mm through bolts, one per corner. We sell a suitable zinc plated M16 x 125 mm through bolt; check that its rating suits your floor. After any hard knock, check that the bolts are still tight and the post is still upright. Wipe the cap and post clean from time to time so the colour and reflective band stay easy to see.
FAQ
Are the fixings included?
No. The bollard needs four M16 x 125 mm through bolts, which are sold separately. Allow for all four when you order.
Does the rubber cap come with it?
Yes. The bollard is supplied complete with the moulded rubber cap and its band of reflective tape.
Will it stop a vehicle?
It is a robust steel post, but no impact rating is published for this line, so we cannot say what size or speed of vehicle it will withstand. If you need a certified rating, please ask before ordering.
Can it be used outside?
The powder coat over galvanising suits car parks as well as indoor floors, although no specific weather rating is published.
Ordering and delivery
Each bollard is sold singly, so order one for each position, and add four through bolts per bollard to the same order. Delivery options and charges are shown at checkout. If you are fitting out a larger site or need help choosing, get in touch before you order and we will be glad to help.
