Description
The yellow swivel angle wall flange fixes the end of a sloping 42.4mm tube to a wall, at whatever angle the stair or ramp sets. A flat plate screws to the wall through two 11mm holes. A hinged socket on a bolt swings about 85° up or down from the horizontal, and the tube end pushes into the socket and is locked with a brass-coated grub screw. It is the fitting for the wall end of a raked handrail or sloping brace on yellow safety rails. It is malleable cast iron with a gloss traffic yellow powder coat (RAL 1023), best used indoors. The price shown is for one fitting, with a minimum order of 5.

Why use a swivel angle wall flange
Any slope at the wall. A fixed wall flange only holds a tube square to the wall. The hinge lets a stair or ramp rail meet the wall at its true pitch, with no bending or angled cutting.
A neat, closed end. The rail end sits inside the socket, so there is no open tube end at the wall and no sharp edge.
Simple fixing. Two screws or anchors through the plate, one bolt for the hinge and one grub screw for the tube. The angle can be reset by loosening the bolt.
Seen from across the building. Traffic yellow matches yellow safety tube and the other yellow key clamps, so the whole rail stands out.
Where it is used
The wall end of stair and ramp handrails inside factories, warehouses and plant rooms, sloping braces and stays from walls, and angled rails on mezzanine stairs, loading docks under cover and access platforms.

Know its limits
This is a wall fitting for angled rails. It must never be used as an angled base fitting to stand a guardrail post on the floor, and it is not designed to take lateral loads. The powder coat is made for indoor use: outdoors, the brass-coated screw, bolt and threads will rust unless painted with matching RAL 1023 yellow after fitting.
Which 42.4mm swivel wall flange?
| Finish | Best for |
|---|---|
| Yellow (this one) | High-visibility safety rails indoors |
| Galvanised | Outdoor and wet areas |
| Black | Rails on show indoors |
For the post end of the same sloping rail, use a yellow 42.4mm single swivel socket, and for rails along the wall a yellow 42.4mm wall flange.
How many do you need?
One at each point where a sloping tube meets a wall. A stair handrail fixed to the wall at the bottom and to a post at the top needs one swivel wall flange and one swivel socket.
Choosing the right size
Key clamps are sized by the tube's outside diameter. 42.4mm tube is often sold as 1¼" or 32mm nominal bore. Measure across the tube: this flange will not grip 40mm or 48.3mm tube. The same yellow flange is made for 33.7mm and 48.3mm tube.
Fitting and care
Mark the plate position, drill and fix it to sound wall with two screws or anchors to suit the wall. Push the tube fully into the socket, set the angle, then tighten the hinge bolt and the grub screw. Check the bolt and screw after the first week and once a year, and touch up any chips with RAL 1023 yellow paint.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one fitting?
Yes. The price is for one swivel wall flange with its bolt and grub screw. The minimum order is 5. Wall fixings are not included.
Can I use it as a sloping base on the floor?
No. It is designed for walls only and must never be used as an angled base fitting for guardrail posts.
Can I use it outside?
It is best used indoors. Outdoors, paint the screw, bolt and threads to stop rust, or choose the galvanised version.
Is a load rating published?
No load rating is published, and it is not designed for lateral loads. For a rail that must meet a set load, ask a structural engineer to check the design and the wall fixings.
