Description
This is the fitting that turns a straight safety barrier round a corner, in high-visibility yellow. The three way top rail corner joins the two top rails and the corner post of a tube guard rail at 90°, all in one closed fitting. Each tube pushes into its own socket and is locked by its own grub screw, so there is no welding, threading or drilling. It suits 42.4mm outside diameter tube and is malleable cast iron, powder coated in traffic yellow RAL 1023 with brass-coloured grub screws. The price shown is for one fitting, with a minimum order of 5.

Why use a yellow corner fitting
Seen from across the building. Traffic yellow is the standard colour for marking hazards in warehouses and factories. A yellow barrier round a machine, a charging bay or a mezzanine edge is easy to see from a forklift cab.
A clean, closed corner. Both rails and the post finish inside the fitting, so there are no open tube ends or sharp edges at the corner where people walk past.
No hot work. Everything goes together with a hex key. You can put a barrier up inside a working building with no welding, sparks or fumes, and alter it later.
Strong for its size. The body is malleable iron, which bends before it cracks, and each grub screw bites into its tube to stop it pulling out or twisting.
Where it is used
Corners of pedestrian barriers in warehouses, machine guards and robot cell fences, forklift charging and parking bays, mezzanine and platform edges, loading dock edges, and corners of enclosures and frames that need to stand out.

Indoors or outdoors?
Powder coat is best indoors. The brass-coloured grub screws are chosen for their look and will rust outside, and the threads inside the fitting are not coated. If you use the fitting outdoors, paint the screws and threaded holes with matching yellow paint once tightened. For an outdoor rail with no upkeep, use the galvanised 42.4mm three way top rail corner.
Which yellow fitting goes where
| Joint | Yellow 42.4mm fitting |
|---|---|
| Top rails at a corner post | This three way top rail corner |
| Mid rails at a corner post | Yellow three way mid rail corner |
| Top rail over an intermediate post | Yellow short tee |

How many do you need?
You need one three way top rail corner for every 90° corner in the barrier, at the top of the corner post. Corners where the rails meet a wall or an end post need other fittings.
| Barrier shape | Corners | Top rail corners |
|---|---|---|
| L-shape round a column or doorway | 1 | 1 |
| U-shape round a charging bay | 2 | 2 |
| Square enclosure round a machine | 4 | 4 |
Choosing the right size
Key clamps are sized by the tube's outside diameter. 42.4mm tube is often sold as 1¼" or 32mm nominal bore. Measure across the tube before ordering: this fitting will not grip 40mm or 48.3mm tube. The same yellow corner comes in two other sizes: 33.7mm and 48.3mm.
Fitting and care
Cut the tubes square and deburr the ends. Push the corner post fully into the bottom socket, then each rail fully into its socket. Check the post is plumb and the rails level, then tighten each grub screw firmly with a 5/16" hex key. Take care not to let the key slip across the powder coat. Touch up chips with traffic yellow RAL 1023 paint, wipe clean with mild detergent, and check the screws after the first week and once a year after that.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price for one fitting?
Yes. The price is for one corner with all three grub screws fitted. The minimum order is 5. For a full barrier or a larger quantity, call us for a price.
Can a rail pass through the corner?
No. All three sockets are closed. The rails and the post each end inside the fitting. Where a rail must continue past a post, use a cross or a tee.
Is it the same as the galvanised corner?
It is the same 42.4mm corner casting and size, finished in yellow powder coat with brass-coloured screws instead of galvanising.
Can I use it on galvanised or black tube?
Yes, if the tube is 42.4mm outside diameter. Yellow fittings on galvanised tube are a common, cheaper way to make a barrier stand out.
Can I use it outdoors?
Yes, if you paint the screws and threaded holes with matching yellow once fitted. For no upkeep outside, choose galvanised.
